What have I missed lately?

Hello all! Sorry but I've been working a different shift since October and just switched back to my previous shift, so I am able to listen to WSYB in the morning again. What have I missed? I listened for the 1st time in a couple of months, and it appears that its the same boring garbage every time I turn to it. Has anyone noticed anything different or better from this station?

We've missed you, Arnold.. Thought you might have moved out of the area, or...gasp... perhaps the radio stations in Rutland have been off the air all this time.. ;) Glad your well, Arnold..

WSYB is like any other talk station. There are going to be some shows/hosts you like and others you don't. The only thing which would concern me about this station and any of the other Catamount Radio owned stations is the amount of PSA's they run. I listen to Bob and Sherri on WJJR and Rush on WSYB and I hear a bunch of them. To this trained ear that = Unsold Inventory.

I don't mind PSA's all that much. They serve a purpose, esp. when a station has to fill a break and can't sell. What bugs me is when a station that does run a lot of them runs the same 2 or 3 all the time. I'm well aware now that "buzzed driving IS drunk driving". Sheesh, mix it up a little bit. There are literally 100s of PSA's to choose from.

Heartily agree, True Grit. When there are unfilled avails, what a great opportunity for a radio station to fill the slot with something relevant that will help their community and prove to the listeners that local radio is real and that Pandora is just a computer.

How hard is it to solicit local nonprofit folks to voice a :15 or :30? A little goes a long way!

And to an extend Catamount Radio does that but again you do hear a lot of the same PSA's over and over again... but the question remains... why all the unsold inventory? I know shows like Elvis Duran and Bob and Sheri (on their Rutland affiliates) are sponsored and I don't know if the sponsorship agreements limit the number of spots Catamount Radio can sell during those times but if not I would be trying to get those spots sold.

Repetive PSA's are a pervasive problem in streaming too. I just might drive drunk and set a forest on fire out of spite at this point.

Sam Elliott is going to be very disappointed in you. (say that in his voice)
