Last week, Cleveland morning DJ Rover - you may recall he replaced Howard Stern for a few minutes on some stations - ended up being bounced from WKRK/92.3 K-Rock after a contract dispute, and was subsequently hired by crosstown rock rival 100.7 WMMS, a Clear Channel station.
And today, in Rochester, another popular local morning icon, in a similar situation, Brother Wease, for years heard on CBS-***-Entercom station WCMF, has announced he will return to Rochester radio at some point this year after signing a deal with WFXF/95.1 The Fox, also owned by Clear Channel.
Gee, what happened to that "hiring freeze" CC imposed a few weeks ago? I guess there's a loophole if you command big dollars? After such big-name transactions within days of each other, makes me wonder if that "hiring freeze" was just a ruse... ???
