What I believe happened to AC radio....

....it became KC (all Kelly Clarkson.)

I swear, every AC station in the entire Puget Sound cannot let one hour go by without playing AT LEAST one of her songs. Every time I scan the dial, at least one AC somewhere is playing "Because Of You" or "Walk Away".

My god. You can even hear it in the sweepers:

"Mix 92-5...Seattle's Best Mix Of Kelly Clarkson"

"Warm 106.9, Seattle's choice for continuous soft Kelly Clarkson"

"Clarkson 101.5"

Agreed! Tell the screaming banshee to shut the hell up and take her 11 minutes of fame and go already!

Problem is she tests well.

Look, Kelly Clarkson can sing. Maybe not as perfectly as on her CDs, but nobody on any major label does anyway.

But she is nothing more than Paula Abdul's revenge to the world (and especially Seattle - further proof that together with FEELING...we really can change the world...sniff! P..please turn the camera off....) for kicking her whiny little ass off the charts in the '90s.

We can never forgive her in Seattle for making KUBE, that annoying local homegirl of hers here in the Northwest into a crack ho by 1992, by which KUBE spent some time in alternative re-hab in 1994. You know the rest of the story...

Kelly Clarkson tests well with 14 year old girls maybe, but like some undertested corporate by-product of our mass market culture, she contains suspicious ingredients that may lead to further mental health problems. And may lead to tooth decay. She just gets entirely too much airplay

Like Paula Abdul herself did.

She is purest evil incarnate.

Could be worse ... at least it's not Clay Aiken all the time.

Yeah, and imagine all those radio stations like KJR and KOL playing The Beatles all the time. They played them even more than your personal disliking of Kelly Clarkson.

You talk so much about how over-researched radio stations are -- have you given a moment to think that some people like Kelly Clarkson?

The real problem is that people settle for style over substance.

But The Beatles wrote their own songs, played their own instruments, worked their asses off, made landmark albums and each had successful solo careers and are beloved to this day. They STILL have each have bags of unopened fan mail from 1965 to boot.

And they did it all without covering a single Whitney Houston song for a panel of washed up has beens like Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul....

No, the real problem is people who think they should decide what's "good."

Agreed! Didn't they burn witches a few centuries ago? Man how our world has fallen apart!

Who cares. Some people need a boost. Ed Sullivan helped the Beatles.

right...whatever

Just because you despise the song, doesn't mean other people won't like it. Your post was a truly personal opinion post.

Ha! Funny one.

All Ed did was to make it more convenient for America to see the band that was already the rage, and all over Top 40 radio.

Terrible comparison. A good laugh, for those who know the difference, though.

Whatever, it still doesn't matter. If the listeners like it, then thats all that matters and apparently, the listeners like KC.

Here's some lyrics from your favorite singer Kelly Clarkson:

Breakaway Lyrics:

Grew up in a small town
And when the rain would fall down
I just stared out my window
Dreaming of what could be
And if I`d end up happy
I would pray (I would pray)

Trying not to reach out
But when I`d try to speak out
Felt like no one could hear me
Wanted to belong here
But something felt so wrong here
So I pray (I would pray)
I could breakaway

[Chorus:]
I`ll spread my wings and I`ll learn how to fly
I`ll do what it takes til` I touch the sky
I`ll make a wish
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won`t forget all the ones that I loved
I`ll take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway

Wanna feel the warm breeze
Sleep under a palm tree
Feel the rush of the ocean
Get onboard a fast train
Travel on a jet plane, far away (I will)
And breakaway

[Chorus]

Buildings with a hundred floors
Swinging around revolving doors
Maybe I don`t know where they`ll take me but
Gotta keep moving on, moving on
Fly away, breakaway

I`ll spread my wings
And I`ll learn how to fly
Though it`s not easy to tell you goodbye
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won`t forget the place I come from
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway, breakaway, breakaway

Since U Been Gone Lyrics:

Here's the thing
We started out friends
It was cool, but it was all pretend
Yeah, yeah, since you been gone
You dedicated, you took the time
Wasn't long, til I called you mine
Yeah, yeah, since you been gone
And all you'd ever hear me say
Is how I pictured me with you
That's all you'd ever hear me say

But since you been gone
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so moving on, yeah yeah
Thanks to you now I get what I want
Since you been gone

How can I put it, you put me on
I even fell for that stupid love song
Yeah, yeah, since you been gone
How come I'd never hear you say
I just wanna be with you
Guess you never felt that way

But since you been gone
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so moving on, yeah yeah
Thanks to you now I get what I want
Since you been gone

You had your chance, you blew it
Out of sight, out of mind
Shut your mouth, I just can't take it
Again and again and again and again

Since you been gone (since you been gone)
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so moving on, yeah yeah
Thanks to you (thanks to you)
Now I get, I get what I want
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so moving on, yeah yeah
Thanks to you (thanks to you)
Now I get (I get)
You should know, that I get
I get what I want

Since you been gone
Since you been gone
Since you been gone

Enjoy the music! (no I'm not a Kelly Clarkson fan, I'm just being a wise a**)

Re: Oh The Evil....

AC radio -- hell, all of radio -- goes through artist phases.
AC loved Michael Bolton. Celine Dion. Shania Twain. Ricky Martin.
Now it is loving Kelly Clarkson and Rob Thomas.
These too shall pass.

And keep in mind that AC by it's very nature is a FEMALE appeal format.
Not that I know for sure, but aren't most of the posters here, guys?

It's all much ado about nothing.
Pop culture and its flavors of the month.

Yeah, but they are still annoying as hell! And they have GOT TO GO!

And how does that matter or relate to the person today scanning the radio dial simply for a song they like?

With the way you think about today's radio, I find it funny how you describe others as "washed up has beens."

Prove that statement to us, please. Thanks!

No, we are not the same person.
I have no idea why you think that.
Unless he/she is here in Denver hiding in my apartment and using my computer when I am not at home.
I don't know who Khafre is.
