What if Cat Country and Froggy merged?

OK, you most likely remember when 104.9 was simulcasting Froggy in 2005... but back then it seemed more like a placeholder (NO mentions of 104.9 except on top-hour IDs), and I think if it were executed properly, it'd work great (wouldn't kill WGNA, but at least put a dent in it ;)). Last year, Pamal launched Cat Country on 104.9, which is starting to gain a decent niche in the ratings (almost 2.0 as of the interim Nov-Dec-Jan 2011 book)... so I've been pondering about if Cat Country 104.9 and Froggy 107.1 should be merged into one big country station...

If 104.9 and 107.1 merged and became 100% simulcast, how do you think it would do as a combined station? And what name would suit a merged country station? Should it be "Cat Country 104.9/107.1", "Froggy 104.9/107.1" or some other name, like "104.9/107.1 The Hawk"?

104.9 The Cat is the station name...Cat Country is based out of Rutland on 105.3.
Just be clarifying because I get confused when people call The Cat, Cat Country...two different stations... :)

I think you have to give the station a bit more time..as far as a merger goes...I doubt it would happen...just doesn't seem likely to me.

Still, isn't "The Cat" a trademark infringement? There's a rimshot station in Catskill called "98.5 The Cat" owned (still?) by Clear Channel which has a Hot AC format. If anything, I'd dump the "Cat" moniker and use either "Froggy", "Hawk" or "Wolf" instead...

And yes, even if 104.9 and 107.1 merged, it wouldn't kill WGNA but at least put a major dent into it ;)

WGNA desperately needs some competition. How that morning show has had such good ratings over the years beats me...those clowns can't even run a board....

oldies4ever ;D
