What If I Have 2 Affiliates Of The CW?

I'm just curious if, closer to the launch date of The CW, we lose one. I'm 99% certain that's going to be the case, I just wanted to get some input.

I have DIRECTV. We were receiving The WB from WBZL out of Miami, as our local WB affiliate is part of The WB 100+ via Comcast. Then a few months ago, it was replaced by WNUV, The WB affiliate in Baltimore.

Locally here in Savannah, Georgia, we have had a local station that began life as WUBI (an affiliate of The WB) and became a UPN affiliate in early 1997 (as WGSA). The station's UPN affiliation has remained ever since.

On April 23rd, it was announced that WGSA will be an affiliate of The CW.

My question is, will DIRECTV simply excise WNUV from the lineup, since I'll be receiving The CW via a local station? Or will I be getting two affiliates of The CW this fall?

Per FCC regs, you will lose WNUV. WGSA will be your CW station.

If a local station in your DMA has that network, DirecTV and Dish Network are barred from bringing in a station from outside the market carrying the same network.

Example: Comcast in Rome, GA carries the ABC, CBS, and NBC stations from both Atlanta and Chattanooga. Since Rome is in the Atlanta DMA, both DBS providers can only offer Atlanta channels, and are barred from offering Chattanooga channels. (As for cable, the Atlanta stations could request that Comcast remove network programming from the Chattanooga channels, but they have not.)
