What if Sunny 104.5 never went away

nd2023

106.1 The Breeze is doing pretty well. There’s no doubt that if Sunny never went away, it would have morphed into what’s on The Breeze now.
AC got more contemporary and less adult after 2006. That left a hole for soft AC.

Prior to 2006, B101 was still not too contemporary like it is now. Sunny had to be even softer and older, putting it in a bad spot. They didn’t play anything newer than the 80s. Oldies 98.1 still played the 50s regularly.

Now, B101 sounds almost like a hot AC. There’s plenty of room for soft rock from the 80s through now, with a few 70s. WOGL is dipping into the 90s. Very few 70s, mostly 80s hits. And Delilah too, something Sunny couldn’t have because she was on B101.

Interesting topic! Talking to a former WFIL friend of mine, a lot of the jocks went to the original Sunny 104.5 FM due to the fact management didn't listen and changed 560 WFIL at that time to country. Sunny 104.5 was a killer station then and when it came back, That station could work now! The Breeze needs a few more air staff, guess it's typical on saving $$$. Also remember Sunny had Christmas selections. Gone are the days when radio stations like Sunny and Oldies 98 offered their cd's. I know what are cd's.
