What if there'd been a tragedy on Sunday?

In regards to Steve Duemig, Ron & Ian, Gary Shelton and Juston Powlowski, and every other local sports talk host who took Monday off, my question to you is, what if something horrible had happened at the Bucs game on Sunday? What if Josh Freeman had suffered a broken neck, or some maniac had shot up the tailgate party?

How would it have looked if you guys had been broadcasting "Best Of" programs Monday while Doug Martin fought for his life in the ICU at Tampa General after suffering a horrific injury?

And even though nothing bad did happen, just because it was Christmas Eve was no excuse for you guys to take the day off. We're still in the midst of the NFL regular season. You guys had a game to break down and calls to take.

Ok...relax. I think everyone is entitled to a little R&R over the holidays. Your examples and thoughts are quite morbid. Especially after things like Sandy Hook and the New Yori firefighter shootings, I would watch that word "tragedy"

Also - did YOU work a normal day on Christmas Eve?

It's been documented over the years that it's a VERY low listening day. Hosts have lives too.

It didn't affect revenue, and that's really all CC would be worried about.

Besides, I doubt many people would want to hear that game broken down even if it wasn't a holiday. The players have their U-Hauls packed already.

Hey CC,

Just to make the record clear, we were live, local, and breaking down the Bucs loss. I know because I filled in from 6-9 for the Sports Page, taking a ton of calls from disappointed fans and giving people a chance to vent. And after I finished, J.P. Peterson took over and drove the ship until noon.

Probably smart in your case. Stations with a 0.4 need to take advantage of opportunities like that.

And to be clear, your full-time hosts got the day off too.

...besides it gave guys like T J Rives opportunities to give multiple plugs to his twitter account and tell us how he told us so about whatever, lol.

Just like news stations...um...well maybe not in this market, I'm sure the big guns would have been brought back in to shine...

Seriously, that was a real tragedy for the Bucs to lose a game to the Eagles, who had previously lost eight games in a row (that'll probably be Philly's last win this year)...

I'll predict a Buc win for Sunday.

It was great when he was thrown off of 1010 years ago, I was hoping I would never have to hear his sorry ass on the radio again, but no such luck. How this guy has a national gig, even if it is in the middle of the night, is beyond me.

I tried to give TJ Rives an opportunity or so on his Fox Sports Radio gigs, and although he has some good pipes, he's irritating and may be a blowhard. Glad that CBS Sports Radio's weekend guy seems to be worth a shot, and I can forget the name TJ Rives.
