What If WRKO's Solution is?

Imus.

Weren't they considering bringing in McGuirk a few weeks ago?

Didn't Imus have somewhat decent ratings at WEEI way back when?

...just thinking out loud.

How bout bringing back "2 Chicks Dish?"? Leslie Gold is looking for a new gig ever since 92.3 FREE-FM got blown up in favor of K-ROCK. What was that chick that co-hosted the show with Leslie? That would go 3PM-7PM.

If they went the syndicated route i.e. stealing Hannity or Dr. Laura from 1150, they would still have to find something to run 6PM-7PM when The Redsox aren't playing.

Remember people it is not a programming problem, there is enough programs out there to put something in, the problem is revenue. Howie brought in nearly all of it in for the station and now that money come the fall will be gone! Even if they could get back half his ratings they are not going to get back even a quarter of the revenue.

Well there's REVENUE...and there's PROFIT. What are the COSTS involved in running Howie as opposed to another host. Remember, Imus was on WEEI-AM for a while, then was replaced by Dennis and Cementhead. Imus remarked that they were throwing away a couple of million dollars in revenue without mentioning how much WEEI was paying his syndicator. (WTKK was not a factor then). I think they had a local sports show for a while before bringing on D&C.

I think two women on the radio would be good during those fall- and winter-time morning and evening drive-times when it sounds like WRKO's signal is powered by a sick gerbil. Normally, even mediocre stations from Canada trounce WRKOs signal. But with two women talking, little WRKO may be able to drown those other stations out 8)
