What if WTIC dropped Rush?

So far 2 stations have dropped Rush - KPUA in Hawaii and WBEC in Pittsfield, Mass. What if WTIC dropped Rush? What would happen? Would CC blow up its new 97.9 ESPN and make it a talk station with Rush? Then ESPN goes back to 1410. I dunno. CC is spending a lot of advertising dollars promoting the new 97.9 ESPN. Would The Talk of Connecticut pick up Rush if WTIC dropped him? What would WTIC replace Rush with? Maybe an hour long news cast Noon-1PM and then clear Clark Howard Live 1PM-3PM. Then what do they plug in 7PM-10PM? (Not that it matters since from April-October 7PM-10PM is Baseball time and December-March is UCONN time).

What would happen? For one thing, Vicevich might want dibs on the vacant time slot...

It would almost be a given that CC would claim "dibs" on its own product and then launch a new news/talker... but to blow up one of their new sports stations so soon after launching them? They'd be better off bringing back the "Power" format.

I suppose anything can happen, and with WTIC being in a "blue state", they might drop Rush's show. Now, if CBS really wanted to make a statement, they'd drop Rush in Philly (WPHT).

What would happen?? First the stench coming from your radio would be instantly removed, and radio in Connecticut would be 10,000% improved. Limbaugh is a cancer on the radio business and a misogynistic pig!!! I doubt CC would blow up the new 97.9 after removing it from WPOP. I also doubt that WDRC AM would buy it, since Limbaugh's program costs a lot to air his hatred and bigotry. I don't think that they could afford it. An hour news block and Clark Howard from 1-4 would do well and would at least remove for an hour the stink of our felon ex-Governor and his Catholic flunky from staining the airwaves.

Which new news-talker would CC start?? The last thing this market needs is a third far-right hateradio station!!!! If CC were interested in a new political talk station I think they would have flipped POP to progressive talk,as they should have. As for Vicevich, he's nothing more than Limbaugh local lite!!!

Clark cut his show from 3 hours to 2 and his show is now live 1PM-3PM. http://www.clarkhoward.com/ (Although the Dial Global Website still shows it as 1-4)

Is Clark now 1-3 across the country? Also, Clark's show was demoted to late night tape delay in Orlando recently. Hmmm...

69 0f the spots that aired on WABC from noon-3pm were PSA's. And one of those groups, The American Heart Association wants nothing to do with "Pig Man". In fact over 51/2 minutes of his show today on WABC was DEAD AIR!!! The boycott lives!!!! Are you listening WTIC, WELI and WHYN AM? Lose Limbaugh or lose your advertisers.

Were you listening to WABC's web stream? Many stations cover webcast breaks with PSAs and other features while the commercials run over their airwaves. Don't assume the web breaks are the same as what's on the air.

Calm down.

Relaying reports? In other words, spreading rumors. During most WABC shows the internet feed is mostly PSA's except during Imus, who has internet sponsors.

I am calm. However, Limbaugh and the other "merchants of hate radio" may not be. The Daily Beast reported that Premiere Radio Networks, the corporation (which still are NOT people, Willard), which produces the majority of hate talk radio shows, that 98 major advertisers from McDonald's to Coke to GM have told PRN NOT to place their ads on programs of a controversial nature, which also includes Hannity, Levin, Weiner Savage and others. No ads, no show!!!

I'm on your side in this, ProgressiveTalk, but the Daily Beast is hardly an unbiased news source. I'd be shocked if that many advertisers have pulled out, or if more than a handful are still boycotting after the furor dies down. Check back in a month, OK? Fact is, Rush has't lost much of his core audience at all over this. Women -- of all political stripes -- don't listen to him in great numbers anyway. Sorry, I just don't see his comments costing him anything in the long run.

Those "no controversial programming" mandates for barter spots are nothing new. Most major advertisers keep their spots out of controversial programming (left and right) to avoid headaches. The Dial Global barter sheets say "Can not air during Michael Savage or in or adjacent to controversial programming." I've seen the same wording for Stephanie Miller, Ed Schultz, and Randi Rhodes too. It's not about which side they're on, it's that they're on a side.

McDonald's wants you to eat a McRib whether you're a liberal or a conservative.

Actually to the charge that "The Daily Beast" is or isn't unbiased, the source they used about the memo from Premiere was THIS site!! And no thanks, outside of their fish sandwiches, McDonald's is inedible.
