What If??

What if WETA-90.9 had not flipped to an NPR news/information format last year and was still a (mostly) classical-music station??

I'm guessing that had WETA remained classical music that Bonneville today (January 4th) would have killed-off WGMS and that the "Z-104" simulcast would have remained.

My guess is the only reason WGMS stays and the "Z-104" simulcast got "blown-up" was due to the fact WETA abandoned classical music last February.

Z104 was the lowest rated and lowest billing station in DC. I think the station was done for no matter what. While Classical WGMS doesn't bill well either, it was doing better than Z104, even before the WETA change. WGMS is probably a cheaper station to run as well.

Even before WETA switched, WGMS was the highest rated classical station in the nation and a regular top 5 DC Arbitron finisher.
