What if....

What if you happen to work for a guy whos been a radio DJ for about 20 years, has been in big markets like Chicago in the 80s, has a box full of tapes of airchecks from stations he's been on, all tapes that came straight out of the studio feed? Would you approach him and ask for the tapes? Give a price for them? Ask if I could borrow them to record, or is that rude? It's just sitting in the back of the warehouse on top of other boxes collecting dust.

Is he your friend? Ask nicely -- he might let you hear them.

he's my boss. They sit in the back of the warehouse and sometimes I'll go in early with my walkman and listen to the tapes while I am loading up my van. I would be willing to give him money for the tapes even. Like I said, they're just sitting there, almost as if they would to be thrown out.

The Guy is Ron Peene, who as gone by the names RJ Renyolds, Ron James, has worked at WILP in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Z95 and WBUS 99.9 in the 80s, Power 93 KITY, Star 93 KSRR in San Antonio, Tx in the late 80s and early 90s, then to 99.5 KISS in the mid 90s where he is currently with but only fills in during afternoons when needed because he runs a DJ and limouzine business. I'm sure some from Chicago would remember him, as well as people San Antonio.
