What is causing this noise?

Wednesday I went out to a farmers field and did an AM/FM Bandscan. I noticed when I tuned to 1560, hoping to get KTUI out of Sullivan,MO(I'm in St. Peters,MO) there was this horribly annoying squealing sound. This is not the only place that I have heard this squealing sound. I've also heard it less than ten miles away from KTUI's tower in Sullivan. It sounds like the combination of a pig squealing with the wind blowing.

Could this be my radio or could it be transmission problems? My radio is in quite good shape.

The first location was in an open field away from power lines.

The second location was in Meramec State Park.

My smartphone sometimes has a noisy signal around 1450 kHz. Goes away only if I remove the battery. It really makes lots of noise in the AM band when it is plugged in to the car charger. If you have a phone with you, might be the problem.

I've got a "Deedle-Deedle-Deedle" sound on a couple of frequencies....I've read that it might be a battery charger, likely for solar.
Also, tons of squealing noises, maybe from switch-mode power supplies.
