What Is CHR/Rock?

Alice 107.7 in Little Rock was a CHR that had a heavy rock lean, before it was Cumulized and turned into a poorly programmed Hot AC. It was unique in a time when CHR was increasingly ignoring rock.

A station that still has a CHR/rock format is 101 WIXX in Green Bay. While continuing to play regular CHR hits (Ke$ha, Bruno Mars, etc.) they will also jump on alternative songs earlier than most other Top 40 stations (songs by Fun., Muse, etc.) while adding songs by artists who chart on the Alternative and/or Active Rock formats, such as Seether or the new song by 3 Doors Down, which most alternative stations haven't added. Quite an interesting station.

Check Out kxrq in Vernal utah CHANNEL X 94,,, or my Internet station,,,, with CHR presentation and imaging,, Heavy rock lean and even some active rock like five finger death bunch,,,, But also pop and dance,, Katty Perry,,, Swedish House Mafia,,,, While shying away from Beiber and Selena type pop.

WKBE-FM (100.3 the Point) in Albany used to be a similar format but I think they've gone to more of a Modern AC or Top 40/CHR with a bit of a Modern Rock lean :)

The format used to be CHR(hit based), with a Rock lean. I presume that it still is. That's different from Alternative.

You must be talking about 15 years ago - The only monitored CHRs that even come close to having a "rock lean" today are WIXX/Green Bay, and maybe WNDV/South Bend, both of which arguably could be classified as Hot AC - and apparently there are some rural CHRs that would fit this model in Utah, Idaho, or somewhere out west

There are a bunch of Alternative stations today, though, that act like CHRs, in that they are current, hit-based, and rotate their powers 70x a week - since they target 18-34, I would call them "CHR/Rock"

True that. Any station that plays "Ho Hey" 80 times a week isn't an alternative rock station in my book.
