What is Dan Snyder thinking?

Dan Snyder has chosen to come up with his own stations to carry the Redskins. So he's hired former CC honcho Bennet Zier to find radio properties to purchase. It's pretty much a forgone conclusion that they will purchase the Mega stations, 92.7, 94.3 and 730am. The idea so far seems to be to make 92.7 and 94.3 sports talk and keep 730 as a spanish language station, with Redskins games broadcast... in Spanish!

So basically, when you want to hear the skins on radio next fall, if you don't speak Spanish, you better head to the Chessy or to Warrenton. Meanwhile, the Ravens will be all over DC on WIYY.

There's rumor that WTEM will step up and broadcast the games, too, because of Zier's relationship with CC. From what I've read, the relationship is pretty sour, and why would WTEM cater to somebody who plans to compete in the sports radio format with them?

And why is it better for Snyder to shell out the dough for stations and employees than to have another station PAY him to carry the skins?

Snyder's an interesting character...sometimes I wonder if he has more money than sense...then again, look at the skins this year!!!

'cause the Redskins are just that profitable. CC may not like the competition, but they're not stupid.

The trades and DCRTV are reporting Snyder wants to build a media empire. He doesn't just want an affiliate, he wants control of the entire station. How Snyder will build an empire when 92.7 and 94.3 won't even reach DC, I have no idea. I don't think he's quite thought that one through either.
