What is exact the format of WPGC-FM?

I have been in the DC/Baltimore area recently for business, and had the opportunity to listen to the radio stations in the area. However, I'm puzzled at what is exactly the format of WPGC 95.5. I know that Mediabase and R&R have them listed as a rhythmic, but they sound like an urban contemporary station like sister station V-103 Atlanta. In addition, former BET Video Soul and the legendary urban personality, Donnie Simpson hosts the morning show and basically all of its on-air staff is black. Finally, it has a slow jams show that airs Sunday through Thursdays nights which I think strange for a station that supposes to be a rhythmic. I was just wondering if any of you guys know what is WPGC's format?

This is sure to spark a debate, but in my mind, there's no doubt they're Urban. There is very little difference between them and WKYS. I'd consider WPGC to actually be more Urban, because they have a slow jam show while WKYS is playing hip-hop at night.

Baltimore's WERQ was classified as Rhythmic for a long time, but they've been moved to Urban. It's time to do the same to WPGC.

Good examples of CHR/Rhythmics in the mid-Atlantic region are WRDW/Philadelphia and WNVZ/Norfolk. Rhythmic stations will play an occasional pop crossover and are aimed at all races, while Urban stations are strictly hip-hop and R&B and target the African-American community. WPGC, WKYS, and WERQ all fall into the Urban category.

Back in the late 80s WPGC was a rhythmic. Even if they have long ago become an Urban, they have kept the rhythmic classification. My guess is that the sales department likes the "rhythmc" label.
