What is going on at Merlin Media?

alot of rumors going around town that merlin media is teaming up with Cumulus..true?

Which town? This town or the town down in Florida where you say you are?

Ever heard of the shift key? There are two of them, one left and one right.

True or untrue, wouldn't Merlin need Cumulus a lot more than Cumulus needs Merlin?

Probably a setup whereby syndicated programming has more elbow room. Recent years have shown that neither company is any sort of visionary programming pioneer. WWIQ is, most likely, Merlin's most successful station, yet the lineup they list is nowhere near original.

There are things other than the promise of groundbreaking broadcast product afoot. I'd say such notions would be the last things on their mind. And if either company had a wild new idea, they wouldn't need the other's help or share it.

So, is somebody speculating that IQ will dump Rush for Huckabee? I guess that would make 1210 (and Julius) happy.

Maybe Merlin will use the Cumulus (ex-Citadel, ex-ABC) XDS satellite platform to distribute programming. Different than Cumulus' terrestrial stations.

It isn't Cumulus, but rather CBS that Randy Michaels is allegedly teaming with, bringing the Merlin stations with him. Cumulus allegedly has another deal in the works with CBS.

Bull!

Merlin could produce results when not trying to innovate--wwiq and wkqx are examples, and perform better then most cumulous stations in similar formats
