What is going on at WBIR

Bill Shory, the news director at WBIR is out. Today was his last day. Have heard two different tales, one from inside the station, he had a difference with management, that is standard code for they had a falling out. Another tale from another station in Knoxville is a decline in the stations news ratings. What else would another station say? The only thing for sure is he is not at Bill Williams Ave (Hutchinson Ave) anymore.
 
I don't believe their ratings are down currently. They aren't as dominant as they once were, but that's been a slow and steady process that's more a result of other stations actually putting forth effort than 10 really falling off all that much. They aren't hurting for numbers or ad dollars. The contract with Fox 43 paid for their HD transition. The only area that is really struggling has been the morning show they do for Fox 43, but it's not costing WBIR much to do it.

I know nothing about internal strife. People either love Shorty or hate him, and there are plenty of people in Knoxville with both opinions. Most people that worked for him were in the former category.
 
From a old-timer in the old WBIR Radio days, Bill got into a shouting match inside the station. Apparently he won the shouting match but lost the war.

So these days, it's not ok to refence your opponents' mother as a means of shortening your debate? You would think that a corporation would appreciate your attempt at efficiency.
