WHAT IS GOING ON AT WLS FM?

I turned on 94.7 shortly after midnight and the first song I heard was Just Like Starting over by John Lennon and for about the
last half hour they have been playing only music from the 70's. They have not said the name of the station or played any liners
or commercials. Is this possibly just a technical glitch or did they switch the format? Has anyone been listening or heard they
were going to make any changes?

They just played Who Can It Be Now by Men Without Hats. Now they are playing Maneater by Hall and Oates, both 80's songs.
They also did not play any type of top of the hour I.D.

Whatever comes down Shannon's satellite is what hits the air. Sad to realize those hallowed call letters would plug into a bird rather than carve the path for others to follow. Every once in a while, you get an "oh, wow" moment, but mostly it 's pie-on-the-wall music selection interrupted by breaks that are way too long. Sadder still is that it's the best choice on the air here if you want that music. I may have to finally buy an iPod.

I should have waited a couple hours before posting, because at about 1:50 AM they went back to normal and were The True Oldies
Channel again. It must have been a computer problem, but, it sure sounded like they were making some changes.

Arghhh! Do they actually SAY channel? A channel is a 6 mhz wide swath as used for tv, I hate it when that term is applied to radio!

How long is that Shannon contract for anyway? Does Scott Shannon permit stations to do as they wish with the audio?
Or does it have to sound like a cassette mix tape from 1980?
Does the contract state, "thou shalt not have fat, beautiful audio"?
"No superlative WLS AM reverb allowed?"

They should really add the sound of a leaking pressurized air pipe, so they could sound like a state-of-the-art AM station.
I'd be impressed.
Maybe if they played "Red Rubber Ball" more often.

Bouncy-bouncy, Bouncy-bouncy......

Much like WZOC, 94.3 FM out of South Bend/Plymouth, IN.

They are 'Z' (The ) Oldies Channel.
