I will agree 1000% that the morning news folks, including Slade, need to slow it down by at least half a beat. Slurring words, screaming traffic reports, rapid fire news stories...wears one out! It seems to have gotten worse lately. I'd rather hear one less story or one less crash if it means slowing it down...it really is noticeable. Tim Bryant is an ok reporter. Kinda snarky sometime. He bothers me because while trying to be "tight" getting back into a story after an audio clip, he steps on the end of the clip. He will also start a commercial or audio clip early and step on the beginning. Punching elements early was often necessary in the "cart" world...not today. My 3 cents.

Ahh...news in the top-40 heyday. Around 1970, WPGC in Washington used to read a headline and then say, "Stand by!" Then into a spot and then into the news. One day I was listening and the headline was, "Murder! Robbery! Rape! A day of crime! Stand by!"
There are a lot of tips you can take from CKLW 20-20 News. Great writing, getting eyewitnesses on the air, the newstip line. I'm going to guess describing a domestic violence homicide as being perpetrated with a "a Willie Mays, Powerized, Lightning Strike baseball bat, where (the husband) proceeded to bat 1000 on the woman's head" would bring a picket line and social media firestorm to your door immediately

Sure, and 2015 is not exactly 1966 either. But as I said, the slower the delivery, the older the demo.
WSB already has the perception of being a grandpa station. They're trying to bring the age down just a tad.
