Has anybody heard 105.9 today???? There is a liner that keeps playing over and over that keeps talking about "what is all the talk about"? Has anyone heard...is Joe-FM going talk????

Sounds like WBLF FM is on its way to State College.

WOW!!! To hear Rush Limbaugh on 2 FM's. Not to mention hearing Jerry Fisher (Ms. Lady Lions) and Wes Richards exhorting local talk across the Centre Region.

It would be great to have Jeff Byers reaching wider audiences.

I guess we will have to wait and see!

That's what I'm hearing across the "pond". A source at Forever stated that they are going the talk format. Hence all of the "talk, talk, talk" stuff on the air until 5PM. Opie & Anthony has not been confirmed yet, supposedly due to the controversy they've stirred up in other markets.

Guess we'll find out in 15 minutes! Anything other than "Pick-a-Little Talk-a-Little" for the past 7 hours will be an improvement!

Good luck, Joe...in whatever you're doing at 5!

:p Ahh Shucks!!!!!!! I was already for talk and the first thing I hear is "Flirtin With Disaster"! Way to fool me! I like it though Rock And Country, this is cool....Move over Troy And Jerry here come Big D and Bubba!!!!!

Joe-FM Rocks Now!

Wow! You guys, is that the only way to plug your station is to create a rumor mill. All I can say is good look with the O&A show. Oh by the way FM-talkers do well in a Bigger markets not a little market were you trade everything to get customers. You actually have to make money I know that maybe hard for some of you to believe. So good luck with that and go sell sell sell. ::)

Did you not see the last post? They're not going talk. No O&A (thank God)! It's Country with Classic Rock.

I guess it pays to check your sources, guys! Sorry 'bout that!

I hear, though, that now Joe FM has a problem with a disgruntled former employee trashing them on Facebook, all the while calling the GM asking for tickets to various events. Pathetic!

If that's the least of they're worrries, they'll be fine.

Apparently I have offended someone with the closing remarks in my last post.

I would like to take the time to personally apologize to the individual referenced in the last post. It was a cheap shot dealing with subject matter that isn't even my business. Unfortunately, I am unable to edit the last post to remove the offending remark. However, I would like to retract my remarks officially and humbly, graciously and wholeheartedly apologize to the individual whom I offeneded.

I suppose you need to think about what you say before hitting the post button.

Again, good luck to Joe FM on their endevours. I think the station sounds great! You're really onto something, I think. Naysayers will hopefully be proven wrong.

uh......what IS going on here?

The new Joe confuses me. Or maybe it is still in the "confusing" stages.

They have the new format mixing classic rock with country. But by my watch, that is only for about 14 hours out of the day.

Blair Garner and the Morning show (big d and bubba) are nationally syndicated. They arent going to start playing classic rock just to help out this one station.

otherwise, it would make sense. but not if they are making the claim that they are "Rockin Country".
insert bi-line here: "except from midnighht to 10 in the morninng"

what?

I'm not sure about these 2 shows, but I know a number of shows also offer the option of music programming at the local level. Several syndicated morning shows have gone in that direction along with John Tesh and Delilah. Most stations still use the satellite feed with network music, but I know that a few Delilah affiliates are downloading her talk breaks off the web and programming the music locally.

That doesn't really matter here. If the format is anything like the other rock/country hybrids, the emphasis is still on the country music.

Here is the current playlist from 93.1 The Wolf in Virginia. It's positioned as country that rocks--basically a hot/upbeat country format with a big classic rock or southern rock hit mixed in twice (or sometimes only once) an hour. They used to play a few more rock tracks an hour when they first began.

My point is, if Joe FM is only going to be similar to the other rock-country stations, they can easily maintain the rock to country ratio during the satellite shows. Instead of filling the Blair Garner local breaks with 3 minutes of PSA's they could play 1 or 2 rock songs an hour. I would assume they want the morning show to focus more on the talk breaks and hitting the new songs (which obviously won't be the classic rock).

With other similar stations, it seems to be more about perception rather than the actual amount of rock songs played. These stations seem to present the country format in a style that leans more towards the male demo and then they mix in a couple classic/southern rock tracks (.38 Special, Marshall Tucker, etc) to help with the station image. I enjoy the format and I'm looking forward to checking out Joe FM sometime.

As of right now it sounds like they are more focused on the country than the classic rock, the classic rock is more of a spice thing...I will say this, it is a GREAT idea and I think it sounds great, there is no slow stuff with the exception of the huge hits on the chart right now, but hey every now and then you have to drop the tempo back right? It sounds fantastic, and has turned me onto country music all over again...have not listened to this much country since back in 1997!!!

I think Blair and Big D are still good fits for the station, if it were all classic rock with a few country songs mixed in well then hell it would make sense to drop them, I don't see any reason why they would need to, it is not like they are changing format at 10am to an all rock station, you know what I mean?

I have enjoyed the new format over the weekend.

I haven't seen this type of hybrid Country in several years. Country has offered much new stuff in a number of years. Even WQBR (Bear Country 99.9) in Lock Haven offers a hybrid Country format that mixes in Americana. Not that Clinton County is becoming a Hispanic hotspot.

Magnum is trying not to be just like Froggy. They are trying to offer an alternative to a Froggy.

This should help their ratings. Oh, State College doesn't have ratings anymore.

It will probably take some numbers from WBUS and Froggy; but, JOE should improve on it's own merits.

I double yuck this allnitesatelite, I tried listening because I loved the Old Joe Fm. I was a faithful listener till they did this God awful switch with 'The rock that made country what its is today' format. What A joke! If anything sounds right it should be the 'country hits of yesterday that made country what it is today sounds more appealing!! Who the hell is the music programmer there????? Give me Merl Haggard or Waylon Jennings Guys!! But Guns n Roses Paradise city doesnt have anything to do with country music Nor does Boston, Bad company, Tom Petty, Aerosmith, Ac/Dc etc. I am a country music fan and I dont want to hear that Rock n roll music mixed in with my Country. You Joe fm have lost a faithful listener and I know many other faithful listeners who have been tuning into The Frog Now that Joe is gone. BIG MISTAKE!!! Thanks for Screwing up the best country station in the area Joe!!
For God's sake give us the REAL JOE BACK!! Like I said You guys made a big mistake, no one likes it!!

thank from a Loyal
EX-105.9 JOE listener
