Radio One-owned Syndication One is scheduled to be shuttered at year's end .Producers for Syndication One were told last week that they would not have jobs at the end of the year. Mery Pink Slip, and A Happy Unemployment Year . Will WILD-Am Go All Gospel Music After Tom Joyner Morning Show ?

Prediction: Univision will want a strong enough daytimer for a beachhead Spanish station (Eastie, Lynn, Chelsea, Lawrence, Brockton and other communities are heavily Spanish). If Univision gets numbers and revenue with its (presumably) music format, it may buy an FM station from one of the four established owners who will be forced to have a fire sale in 2009 by President (Hillary) Clinton, and not a rimshot like 97.7 either! (She will reduce the maximum from the current 8 combined radio and TV's/40% revenue to 4 or 5 combined radio and TV's/30% revenue.) If Univision gets its FM, it would plant the music there and put a Spanish news/talk station there (not a bad format for a daytimer).

the communities you mention prob can get Spanish radio easily via
WXKS 1430 Everett
WLYN 1360 Lynn
poss. WESX 1230 Salem and more

A Spanish-language FM will come eventually, but I have a feeling that it won't be Univision that brings it to town. If they really cared about the Boston Hispanic media market, wouldn't they at least operate their own WUTF instead of LMAing it to Entravision? I see them taking control of WUNI-27 before they'll ever invest further in Boston.
