What is happening with 105.3 and 107.1?

Party 105.3's audio chain has been in mono for almost a month now, the stereo carrier is present but the audio is in mono and sounds very distorted.
And today WLIR 107.1 has a mix of buzzing and a very low broadcast audio in only the right channel.
It's making both stations pretty unpleasant to listen to. How long does it take to get a new transmitter?
I know they have had on and off probs with the Verizon T1's, they really should ditch that and use a microwave STL, at least for 105.3, that tower can be seen from all over, that's one of LI's tallest towers.

Party 105 has never sounded GOOD...they were always running overprocessed audio at not-really-legal modulation.

Better question: What is happening with the sale of 98.5 and 107.1? I was talking with folks in the know and they were wondering why none of the usual "station selling" paperwork shows up for 105.3...at all.

90-day transfer extensions were filed with the FCC on June 5 for both WLIR and WBZB. I have not found anything in the FCC database that mentions the transfer of WDRE. It certainly seems as though Party105 is no longer part of the deal.

Just yesterday, I heard Party 105.3 loud and clear on tropo in New Jersey. I too noticed that it sounded overmodulated, and the stereo light blinked with the music. It even did that when I was right under its tower a few months ago. They used to have a cool stereo effect with the channels partially out of phase, but I think it's gone now. The webstream sounds really bad, much worse than other 20K streams, but at least it's there.

Well that "stereo effect" is gone with the mono audio, though it sounds like their mono is one channel of stereo and not both channels blended (like if you took audio stereo and outputted the right as mono).
I never really disliked their audio chain, the "spacial enhancement" features and unclipped highs gave better dynamic range for the music, but it now sounds awful in mono.
Usually stations in mono have their carrier in mono as well, but Party still has their stereo carrier. Also BZB 98.5 is now in mono with the talk format.
There was a time radio stations did their best to stay on top of engineering. Whoever owns Party 105.3 and WLIR 107.1 has to be the biggest engineering cheapskate I ever heard.
I always thought that Party's old site in Calverton had a better clearer signal, but the higher tower in Manorville should have a better signal, but since they moved there eons ago the signal in northern Brookhaven town (Rocky Pt, Port Jeff) and Riverhead has gotten worse. Also the signal can barely make it to the hamptons. It seems all the SBA Manorville site has done is to make the signal louder for the fishes in the ocean!
