Denver What is Indie 102.3 doing at the moment?

What's going on here to get the attention?

I don't think they're doing anything much different from previous periods. I haven't noticed any difference. Most of Indie's announcers can be a bit irritating, trying to hard to be my pal. But that's also no different from before. I see that KJAC, a similar station, is down by a nearly equivalent amount, from 1.3 to 1.0.

In recent weeks, there have been more fundraising announcements and mini-pledge drives on both stations, so I doubt that would be the difference.

For what it's worth, the really interesting rise is KQMT, "The Mountain", up 1.2 to 5.6. Mixing in classic alternative with the more usual classic rock seems to have paid off for them.

KQMT was off my radar, so thank you for mentioning them.

Indeed, their playlist currently follows an approach similar to that being used by KQRS in Minneapolis.

In a Google search, it appears Audacy now refers to KQMT's format as "Adult Rock."

I think it's terrific some highly respected major market classic rock stations are breaking the format's tired mold to forge a new path.

Looking at today's full playlist for KQMT, every other song is 90s alternative or after 3 or 4 songs in a row it's a song from the 90s. But, surprisingly I did not come across no Smashing Punkins in the playlist. It would fit in quite well to the list of bands from the 90s they have added.
