What is it about radio?

It really keeps people connected in several facets.

First, the news. Also, for new music (radio is still the overwhelming first mentioned for hearing new music). And last, but not least, people learn about events happening in the area through commercials, promos and live localisms from the jocks.

That's the short answer.

Familiarity, recognition, "colourful KOL" timlessness, friendly local air talent, public affairs, new music, old music, community identity, commercialism, the devil....

Those are my short answers.

Thanks AQH.

It's still a more efficient and entertaining means of mass communication than semaphore flags or smoke signals.

But not much else....

It's the only entertainment you can hear on your toaster and maybe even your fillings. This makes it much more personal than those that require an actual receiver, such as TV or Internet radio.
