What is it...?

Where did it [JACK?BOB?SAM?] come from... Some say Canada, others say Denver, Hawaii, Tidewater, Va. Did every DJ that has ever broken format and fired for it, help create it [including mmwha]. The ones that found an audience receptive to the idea. What..., corporate said "Hey, They're on to something... Let's jump on it and kick them out of it". [$$$$]
I've been hearing that some are failing...and in various media circles are calling them a fad. What [if any] is changing with other stations in the marketplace where these stations pop-up? "Let's build it... They will listen" quoting a good friend. Why do I even care??? It's like my old CB handle "Cracker Jack" You'll never know what I'll say on the mic"[I was like that on the radio too!] They'll play Everything...! Guess I'm waiting for the surprise... It's a cracker jack radio jukebox... Pick a title, Put in a quarter... Push a button... or go back in time and put in a dime! Am I showing my age again...wrong demographic I guess. I've seen a bunch on here... Now how's this for diverse... I betcha they won't play them this way!
Jess DuBoy & Hitchhiker "If You Would Be My Girl" groovy, that's hipsville, I can dig-it! [Don't bust a gut digging], Don Reno & Red Smiley "Using my Bible for a Roadmap" [Hey that's Don's signature song... it's even on his tombstone.. I could have said Dueling Banjo's...excuse me "Feuding Banjo's" the correct title...Reno and Arthur Smith from NC wrote the damn song!] follow that up with Porter Waggoner's "Carroll County Accident" [I've met him..he's a pretty neat fella, I would say.."Hey how'd you like working with Dolly"], Joe South "Games People Play", then John Lennon's "Just Give Me Some Truth", Then Single Bullet Theory "Keep It Tight", Transvision Vamp "I Want Your Love", Deep Purple "SpaceTruckin'" [I'm sorry that's not Top40 is it], Ernest Tubb's "I'm Walking The Floor Over You", The Monkee's "Listen The Band", Canned Heat "Going Up Country", Aerosmith "Toys in the Attic", Alabama "Tennessee River", George Clinton "Bop Gun", Glen Medeiros "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You", Frank Mills "Musicbox Dancer"...[a Bozo no, no... back to back instrumentals]
Apollo 100 "Joy" [fits right in doesn't it... Well it's that or Hot Butter's "Popcorn"...], Hilary Duff "Wake Up" [Gotta get the youngsters lol their mom & pop buy the merchandise right]. Rob Zombie "Reload" [Am I making you sick] John Denver "Sunshine On My Shoulders", Osmonds "Let Me In", Blackeyed Peas "Let's Get It Started", Sly & The Family Stone "Dance to the Music", [Bet, I lost you at Hilary Duff] Beatles "Helter Skelter" [Ok, I'm rockin' the boat too much...now I know how to make a bunch of my fellow older jocks ill...lolol]
Richard Harris "Mac Arthur's Park" [quick where's the barf-bag, I think I'm gonna be sick..uuuuuugggghhh
lolol ok, I'm sorry...that definitely brings back memories...!!!] Well, I can actually play these and make them sound great... That's the kind of show I did back in '86. Can you name combinations they wouldn't dare play...! This ought be fun [and interesting].
______________

The Bob(Jack, Fred, Sam, Max, Liberty, Alice) formats started in Canada about 3 years ago or so. It came to Hawaii and then to Hampton Roads and then all over the place. Don't get me wrong, I love I-pods. I have one myself for long road trips outside of DC and Norfolk. Now for a list that they will NEVER touch in a 2 hour span....this should be fun(grins)

I can only see a playlist like this either on my Ipod or listening to someone who has a HUGE collection of good music, Bopst comes to mind. Now as far as the Coporate Heads go with this list on one station, I seriously have doubts it would all be played. Maybe bits and pieces but in full, HA I doubt it. Enjoy the list and if there is any feedback, feel free.

OK...not that you were wanting a breakdown, but...

1) Canada
2) A now defunct "Bob" in Honolulu (Salem bought it and made it some nonsense)
3) Norfolk
4) KJAC/Denver

Of couse, if you wanna get technical, WFLO-FM was the first "We PLay Everything" format, right down to the name...FLO-FM! :)

> Can you name combinations they wouldn't dare play...
Mazzy Star: "Fade Into You"
Aerosmith: "Suck My Ten Inch"
Johnny Cash: "A Boy Named Sue"
Jerry Cantrell: "Anger Rising"
Dead Kennedys: "MTV, Get Off the Air"
Dresden Dolls: "Girl Anachronism"
Pulp Fiction Theme
Silverchair: "Suicidal Dream"
Rob Zombie: "What Lurks on Channel X?"

Ah...when I get a few million, I'll put up JOE-FM...We Play Anything...THAT ROCKS!

(I'm sure that's copywritten...don't sue me!)

If a DJ talks into a microphone, and no one's there to listen to him, does he make a noise?

Thank you... Dan_Evans & RadiodxRichmond! You guys kick ass!!! Yes, The only one I was unaware of was the station in Canada. I try keeping up with the trades. All Access, among others and here's a plug...
locally for me, It's VARTV... 4-6 times a day. =) smile Bob... To find out what's going on. As to our impossible playlists... Of course those pick a name stations are not going to play them. Maybe a pick here and there. The game is... Take away for the other formatted stations...pieces of their playlist... their audience (if their numbers increase) go after their advertisers. Bopst may have a chance at syndication. But, they may be affraid of the unchartered territory such as his and our playlists...and stick to the take away principle. Remember the one liner from the TV show Hunter... "Works For Me". They may say THanks but not thanks...! As far as Ipods. I do not own one. Between My records and cd collection and my brother's, We can supply an audio library... I fact in '86, We did! WENZ Z-14. Liberty's liner states "You won't hear the same song twice on the same day..." Our liner would go like this... lolol "You won't hear the same song twice for a week...or more" lolol... and I'm not joking! lolol Cheers,
______________
