It's actually repeating 91.1 WOSB Marion. It's part of the WOSU "Classics Network" so it's the same difference. I think they switched it a couple years back because they were going to make WOSB the student run station and use 106.7 to bring the signal to campus.

Someone said that they were gonna turn it to a rhythmic. When I tuned it on it was fading in and out with static playing get it poppin' by fat joe and nelly. Anybody know what's going on with them?

That sounds like someone else. With the weather changing recently, could be coming from about anywhere withing 150~200 miles.

Two issues:
1) The WOSB translator has been off the air for a couple of weeks. (Does this mean they're getting ready for the move in?)
2) I suspect the 106.7 you were picking up WAMO-FM from Pittsburgh which has an urban format. The signal conditions have been pretty good the last few days from that direction.

Because I can (the tropo has been so good), I've been doing a lot of DX'ing and listening to out of market stations like CIDR 93.9 from Windsor, Ontario for example. Also 102.7 WCPZ-Sandusky, 104.7 WOIT-Toledo, 98.5 WNCX-Cleveland, 88.1 WZIP-Akron and 107.7 WPFX-North Baltimore. Enough of my rambling.

Well, it was re-translating Marion, but was switched back to WOSU FM. It was tran Marion because the plan was to move all sports on 106.7 from 820 and you can't originate programing on a translator, so for a brief time during the 2003 "conflict" they broadcast all the 820 sports on Marion, letting them be carried on 106.7. It was found out that 106.7 had no real coverage, so that idea was thankfuly scrapped. There is nothing on the freq now.

Wonder if that is a precursor to the WMRN move-in. Maybe it'll happen sooner than we think.
______________

Likely WAMO, but if you hear country, its WSRW, Hillsboro, which is set to be displaced with the move of WMRN to Dublin.
______________

My suspect is that 106.7 has went silent in prep for Clear Channel taking control of the frequency as their dublin allocation.

I remeber reading somewhere that the owner of the translator on 106.7 made nothing on it thus why he ended up rebroadcasting WOSU instead of WWCD (cd101) which he was broadcasting on there at one point, Apperently the translator's antenna was on WOSU's tower off dobridge and he was able to strike a deal (for lower tower rent) by rebroadcasting WOSU instead of having to pay full price for tower rent and rebroadcasting else.

Sad to see his Translator shut down, consdiering it COST him money to put it on the air to begin with that he basically ate per Clear Channel taking WMRN from Marion to Dublin (Westerville actually if you look where the tower will be)

I have a Yamaha RX-V870 AV receiver which has a pretty decent tuner for being stock. It deals fairly well with adjacent channel interference like trying to listen to 95.7 WDPT next to 95.5 WHOK.

What really makes the biggest difference is the outdoor antenna and a rotator. It's a Radio Shack 6-element FM antenna which I have added three more elements to the front at 25 feet above ground. (I could buy a better antenna but I like to experiment. I've modified it 4 different ways trying to make it better.) I've worked on the antenna so that it will reject the locals as much as possible. (Luckily my wife puts up with me DX'ing and the antennas.)

So when someone on the board says "WLWD is one of the best small market stations..." I simply tune it in and listen for a while. Signals are not always good but it's fun none-the-less.
