What's going on over there? It's like listening to 101.1 WYDE! Can they not decide what they want to be? Within about a year-year and a half they've transitioned from A/C to Hot A/C (for a brief time). They gave up on that way too quickly and now have reverted back to "Huntsville's Best Variety" and they almost sound like a Jack FM! The play list is all over the place now! Over the past few days I've heard stuff like "Firework" by Katy Perry to "Billy Jean" by Michael Jackson to "Jessie's Girl" by Rick Springfield to "What Hurts The Most" by Rascal Flatts to "Single Ladies" by Beyonce! All in one hour! What format are they officially calling themselves now? All this changing in all this short of time is just killing them more and more. No one knows what they are going to wake up to the next morning on 99.1! It makes your head spin! I think it's time to stop quietly transitioning every few months and just stunt for a couple days and debut a whole new station. One that Huntsville really needs. CHR would be nice. ;)
 
Sounds like they're copying the approach of Magic 96.5, doesn't it? There's nothing quite like musical schizophrenia.
 
i was gonna wait until someone bought it up....but amen - i can't listen to it anymore. ZYP, shockingly, has become my primary station, with star 99 as a - hmm are they playing something i can stand yet - station....

Heck, here in Cullman I can get the best of Florence, Birmingham, a little Gadsden (i like mix 102.9 when i can get it), and a lot of Huntsville. I can take a little rocket 95.1 but not a lot...and now i'm just SOL...

So Journey 93.3 launches with 80's and 90's, and Star 99.1 decides it's a good idea to start playing a whole lot more 80's and 90's??? They had something going there when they first revamped as Hot A/C with mostly 2000's to now modern hits as "Huntsville's Modern Music Station". It was sounding really good, but only for the first couple of months, and they've been slowly adding more and more older 90's music back in since. Now its just ridiculous! I can't listen anymore either. My primary station unfortunately is satellite radio. I can't take local Huntsville radio anymore. It just makes me sick. When I don't have my satellite I bounce around the local stations waiting to hear something decent. That means a LOT of channel changing for me.
 
They've managed to alienate every demographic in Huntsville. Now with the return to Mainstream AC they expect to win back all the mom's after being away for two years. Who's going to take them seriously? Especially with a morning show that is not "kid friendly." And how are they going to compete with the Christmas music juggernaut?

We may see their ratings sink even lower than they are right now.
 
Your right. They had a bit of a spike when they went Hot A/C. If they'd have just stuck with it they might have continued to see a climb as people seeking an alternative to ZYP discovered the change but they gave up on it before it ever even had a chance! Maybe if their ratings sink lower they'll just flip to something else.
 
You are absolutely right my friend! Is anyone over there listening to the pleas of Huntsville listeners for a real CHR station??
 
It doesn't matter what WAHR programs, because their overprocessed audio gives you such ear fatigue, you can't help but turn it off after 10 minutes!
