I'm headed up for vacation next week and I want to hear live people on the radio!
When and where are they on? Frequencies, not call letters please.

Almost live, (VT) etc DO NOT APPLY!

94.1 Franklin,NH

107.7 Concord,NH

95.7 Manchester,NH

101.1 Manchester,NH

After checking the web sites,

107.7 Concord NH "The Pulse" is just ESPN on weekends and it looks like the only live shows are morning drive and two hours in the afternoon...doesn't make the cut.

Rock 101 makes the cut, although it may or may not be listenable in Lake Winnipesaukee, I'll report back.

WZID looks like it's not live or local between 7pm and 5am. I'll put this in the doubtful I'll give it the time of day category

Mix 94.1 makes the cut along with Rock 101.

I suppose it would be WAY too much to expect that there is anything in the Lakes Region that does local news outside of morning drive?

WGIR has a translator in Laconia. W264AH 100.7 FM in case you're interested.

Just an FYI WZID IS live all day TILL 7 when it is Delilah. 5am till 7pm is live and local the same as Mix 94.1fm. Mix has a syndicated program after 7pm. You want to know if its really live and local, call the studio line and see if someone answers. I love it when people are shocked when I answer the studio line.

The translator at 100.7 has been off the air for years and was pretty useless when it was up. It was so low powered, it barely made it into Laconia. The tower was on top of the hill on Route 106 in Belmont across from the Irving station at the corner of Bishop Road. The tower isn't even there anymore. I use to live just down the street from the site and drove by it every day. No one ever listened to it or knew it was there. WZID had a translator across the street at the car dealership too. It was on 96.5 nad the antenna was mounted to the back of the car dealerships roof. It's gone too.

95.7 and 101.1 out of Manchester can be heard in the LR but it's spotty. 95.7 is live 5a-7p. 101.1 is live am drive and pm drive and that's it I beleive. AC and Rock. Can get the same from other stations in the LR if you're looking for a juke box. Niether one have very good content from their jocks outside of the morning shows (both of which are very good).

89.1FM - NPR - Live Mornings, Live local talk 9a-10a and I think 6:30p-7pm... All else is NPR with local drops. Afternoon drive has more local news drops too.
93.3FM Country Live mornings - Voice Tracked the rest of the day.
94.1FM CHR Live mornings - Voice Tracked the rest of the day.
94.9FM AC Portland ME - Live mornings - Voice Tracked the rest of the day
98.3FM Hot AC Live mornings - Voice Tracked the rest of the day.
100.1FM Active Rock - Live mornings - Voice Tracked the rest of the day.
99.1FM Classic Hits - Voice tracked mornings & Juke Box the rest of the day
104.9FM Classic hits- Live mornings - Voice Tracked the rest of the day
105.5FM CHR Live mornings - Voice Tracked the rest of the day.
106.5FM Religious Satellite.
106.9FM Country - Live mornings - Voice Tracked the rest of the day.
107.7FM - N/T - Live mornings(6a-9a), Live afternoons(1p-5p), Channel nine news, Red Sox and ESPN filler. Good signal to the LR.

1490AM Satellite talk but LIVE (Imus, Dr. Laura, Rush, Howie Carr, Red Sox). Weekend local talk show but I don't know time.
1240am - Satellite Standards with Red Sox coverage
1350AM Oldies - Live N/T mornings - Voice Tracked the rest of the day. Live Political talk show (Conservative) Saturdays 8am-12N

There are some other out of market signals from Maine that get in there as well. 102.9 is Rock, 107.5 is Classic Hits but the same as 104.9 and 99.1, 97.5 and 103.7 are Country from Portsmouth and Mt. Washington. Live AM and PM Drive but VT most other times...

I write this and it saddens me. Most of the stations that voice track with a common owner have jocks that are on multiple stations in different positions. Hosting a show on one signal and then another station in a different daypart. Doing news reports on one stations while hosting other shows on other stations. This is why local radio has nearly died!

BTW... Have a nice vacation. Weather should be good.

94.1 is not voice tracked outside the morning show. They are live until 6 or 7 pm. After 7 they carry Romeo's Playhouse via the bird.

99.1FM Classic Hits - Voice tracked mornings & Juke Box the rest of the day
104.9FM Classic hits- Live mornings - Voice Tracked the rest of the day

Is that correct that these two stations have different morning shows?I thought they were a total simulcast.

What do you think is "good content"? Live dj? Traffic updates if needed? contests? artist/song facts? surveys? local content? blog?

Trust me...WFTN is live 5a-6p.

99.1FM Classic Hits - Voice tracked mornings & Juke Box the rest of the day
104.9FM Classic hits- Live mornings - Voice Tracked the rest of the day
WLKZ/WNNH are 100% simulcast and now have the "more music morning"...it's 100% tracked.

1350AM Oldies - Live N/T mornings - Voice Tracked the rest of the day. Live Political talk show (Conservative) Saturdays 8am-12N
WEZS's morning show is brokered by Alan Harrison. He does it 6a-9a. I've heard the disclaimers saying it's paid for by "Lakes Region Newsday". The Saturday show is brokered also.

99.1 and 104.9 are a straight up simulcast. The morning guy is none other than Nassau's budget rent-a-jock Leif Erickson, who is based at Portland Frank and heard on virtually all their Frank stations, as well as Oldies 104.3 in West Lebanon, NH. I imagine he just sits in a studio and pukes out shows all day.

If you ever wanted to know anything about the guy who played bass on that B-side by Jeff Beck, Leif is your guy. Decent jock but his encuclopedia-of-rock and roll shtick got old quick when he was at Q106.

Certainly jocks covering more than one station is the norm now, but Nassau is getting ridiculous.

At this point "good" content is secondary. I am looking for a live and local DJ/local Newsguy so that I can tune the radio on the boat and hear if I am about to be blown to Kansas with Dorothy and Toto, or used for target practice by Thor in time to do something about it!

To play devils advocate:
Isn't that what EAS is for?

Thunder and wind updates....eas

TERRORIST ATTACK ON OUR COUNTRY....remember 9-11?

That brings up an interesting question.
Why wasn't the national EBS/EAS system activated on 9/11? If there was ever a time to air a live message from the president that was it. I know it wasn't activated as I was on the air that day.
Brownie, you're doing a helluva job.

Re: Good morning show on 101.1FM and 95.7FM. Ensemble shows that have heritage. Enjoyable to listen to. Informative and entertaining. I laugh my ass off at some of the stuff Greg does. Mike too. They are doing fine and have been for a long time. It's a bit homogenized and fourmulaic but it's quality in an environment of mediocrity. Who does it better? Matty? Dale? OK I'll give you Loren and Wally but these are all Boston shows. Anyway I think Mike and Greg are solid.

NH Radio EAS did go off that Tuesday morning of 911. It was a required monthly test! Had the PA Plane hit the capital or White house I assure you it would have gone off if full emergency mode!

Again, what you do you consider "good content"? What should be added to the middays to make them better in your eyes?
