What is that Spanish station on 99.1?

What is that station playing Spanish Christian music back to back on 99.1 in the north of San Antonio? I thought it was the LPFM at first, but they're still not giving any ID messages or even a legal ID at the top of the hour. The audio quality is still a little mediocre, as well. If only they either invested in some better audio equipment or tried this

If it's the LPFM they could at least record a legal ID on their phone and save the file to the computer running the music... If it's a pirate station, well...

It's the LPFM, and here is the ID I just heard. http://sndup.net/9zrk/a
It runs over most of a song. From my limited Spanish it seems to be coming from a church on West Avenue. The audio and ID production still isn't perfect, but then again this station just started. I wish them luck.

They're calling it "JS 99.1", but I'm not sure what JS stands for. Here is their Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/Radio-JS-991-fm-1131132976912720/

I now hear a man preaching in Spanish. It sounds like the same guy who recorded the call letter ID. The ID just ran in the middle over the preaching this time around.

Why haven't they fixed it yet? The audio is heavily distorted on most songs. Rather than use a compressor they are just turning the levels up too high and blocking out stations next to 99.1. I guess the ID messages are just gonna run over the music forever?

I just was tuning by 99.1 and caught this going out over the air. http://sndup.net/7y3b/a

That weird voice was certainly strange. It appears to be gone now and the levels have been fixed.

Wow! Just looked, 881 hits on the statistics page for the last file. Didn't know that station's on-air virus was that popular. http://sndup.net/7y3b/

KHJS-LP is still on, but since around yesterday the signal levels have been considerably weaker than normal. The audio quality is really good now, the signal's just not there. Maybe they could try making the station's signal mono to help coverage until it can get fixed.
I'm also not sure how many listeners they are getting with the Spanish Christian format on that part of town. Spanish probably would work better downtown or on the west side, LOL. IMO they should go back to English music like it was when it first started up, that might bring in more support from listeners. I've never actually heard them asking for donations on the air like the other LP stations, but I heard what sounded like a commercial once.

Well, Mouse, I don't know what the "JS" stands for, but escuela radial translates to radio school. The LPFM is owned by an Ocala Construction LLC, Esmeralda Ocana, Director. Address for the company is 11318 Amherst Drive, SATX, 78213. Appears to be some type of tile company, Mouse. The address listed for the JS radio school is 126 Dawnview Lane, SATX, 78213. The contact agent for the school is Jose Guerrero.

I highly doubt a return to English language programming, likely the engineer originally tested the LPFM with something from his own personal collection. Has this facility been on for the entire two months since you first posted, Mouse? There has been nothing filed for KHJS-LP to cover, that I could find.

It's been on.
Thanks for the info, Purple. :p That's interesting.

Well I couldn't find JS Radio School on the Internet anywhere when I looked, thought it was maybe a church running the station up until now...
How did you make the connection to Ocala Construction LLC, since they're not the licensee? That's interesting a construction company would choose a Christian Spanish format for their station. I actually find it intriguing a construction co would be involved in radio at all, unless it was a tower crew or something.

How did you make the connection to Ocala Construction LLC, since they're not the licensee?

Pardon my previous typo, Mouse. It's Ocasa Construction LLC. There's all sorts of information available all over the world wide web, Mouse, but some of it you have to pay a little something to access it. The connection is, Ms. Ocana serves as the active director for Escuela Radial JS. She is also the manager of Ocasa Construction LLC, which has been in business for less duration than the radio school, and was incorporated in 2013. Ocasa Construction incorporated last year and commenced business. The connection is Esmeralda Ocana, I guess more so than the actual construction company, Mouse.

And after unraveling all of that...still can't find a license to cover for KHJS-LP. I'd speculate that it's because one hasn't been filed, and that's pretty interesting since you say it's been going strong for 2 whole months.

It's been on, for the most part. Right now it's on air but weaker than it had been up until recently.
A couple times there have been nothing at all, usually for just a few days.
I understand now about the connection, shouldn't have just guessed like that. Oh well LOL.
