Pet Peeve: Ending sentences with prepositions -- where's that at? --Oop...anyone else cringe as our standard-bearers of good broadcast writing and
speech seem to be letting us down?

Perhaps you've heard the weathercaster roll this phrase off the tongue, "...to the mid '70's in and around the Bay." These throwaway phrases are fillers around substantive information. I know it could be worse, such as to throw in an "um" or "uh" as a placeholder while the broadcaster's mind catches up with his mouth. I submit to you however few individuals find the temperature "in" the Bay relavant. Nor are we likely to find any urban/rhythmic stations "in" the Bay. Salt water wreaks havoc on the tuning coils for one thing.
Does anyone else cringe as our standard-bearers of good broadcast writing and speech seem to be letting us down?
As my English professor used to say, that is right behind the preposition.skyrocker said:Pet Peeve: Ending sentences with prepositions -- where's that at? --Oop...anyone else cringe as our standard-bearers of good broadcast writing and

Look on their playlist, Coldplay and Katy Perry is not R&B nor Hip Hop, not to mention a solid number of their currents are biggies on the HOT 100.....I'd say KYLD is closer to CHR than in anytime in it's 15 year history.....These two stations (KMEL and KYLD) are part of the same ownership cluster, and I doubt Clear Channel needs two rhythmic stations..
