What is the Dan Patrick big announcement?

Do you think that ESPN radio is finally putting his show to sleep? The Olbermann hour is unlistenable and the self-serving interviews and endless hours of NBA talk bore me to tears.
I doubt he would ever leave ESPN, but doing the daily radio show may be another story.
If that happened, who would be the list of suspects to replace?
You've got to figure that they would want Cowherd to be in the prime syndication time slot Dan currently occupies. They have Doug Gottlieb doing the 7-10 PM ET show, Jason Smith doing the overnight show, Kuselius does that NASCAR TV show now on a daily basis so that probably rules him out, Bob Valvano and John Kincade are probably the next guys on the bench ready to step up if Gottlieb or Smith did not get the gig.
Any other ideas?

He was off Tuesday, and I imagine he was off today (I didn't listen on the holiday), but I doubt he's leaving the air. I enjoy the show, and his tag-teams with Olbermann. The only problem I have with the show is his random schedule, especially over the summer.

My money's on either another co-host coming on (maybe to prepare for DP leaving eventually), or on the show going to a web-cast or live broadcast on ESPN2.

You know what? They pulled the same stunt with Cowherd about the web cast! I never even thought about that one!
You are probably 100% right.
I wonder if they ever did do the co-host thing, who would it be?

Most reports I have read is that he is leaving ESPN and wants to do a Syndicated show Like Jim Rome.

Then there was this on a site called Drinking with Kieth Olbermann.

Update: The Chicago Tribune has joined in the speculation that Dan will be leaving ESPN. They‘re predicting predicted the big announcement will would come on Thursday’s show. They were wrong.

Word on the street is that Dan Patrick is leaving ESPN for his own syndicated show.
Other rumors currently circulating…
>He’s announcing that he’ll be filing in for Perry Como at the Stardust.
>His announcement is that he’s going to be even more SASSY.
>He’s announcing that he used Brylcreem all those years.
>He framed OJ.
>He’s just saved a lot of money on his car insurance.
>ESPN traded him to the Lakers for Kobe.
>He has a fever…and the only prescription is more cowbell.

I hope that's all sarcasm, I can't see that happening. DP as the ESPN Radio flagship has a ton of clearance, promo time, and listeners going for him. If he went syndicated, he'd have to drop all of his ESPN and ABC gigs.

More importantly, if he was leaving, there's no way ESPN would let him leave for another gig by announcing it on their airwaves.
