What is the deal with 89.3's signal?

I could be wrong here, so if I am, someone let me know...I've been hearing 89.3 on the west side of Orange County coming in loud and clear even at night? Aren't they in Titusville at 350ft? Its suppose to be a religous station so I think they may have some help from god or something just curious how does a station in Titusville at 350ft. Non-directional make it all the way to the west side of Orange County inside my house? I know that 107.1 in Coco Beach is a much more powerful signal and they don't get to us like 89.3. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed or knows what they are doing to get this signal pushing the way it does...Please someone tell me there is a good reason for this because we have pirate radio stations playing garbage on the airways unchecked and now we have religous stations on educational channels blasting away like there local radio stations...this is getting rediculous

There's also the absence of any 89.3 frequency nearby to compete with it WPIO's output, so anytime conditions are fair I would expect them to get right through. I tend to get them clear every night here in Sanford, but not as clear in the daytime hours.

By the way, do they really rebroadcast the WPIO station through a 93.5 FM translator in Union Park as radio-locator indicates?

I believe WKFA 89.3 in St. Catherines (near Clermont) rebroadcasts the signal from WPIO, so perhaps it may have been this signal coming in to W. Orange. According to Radio-Locator, they are at 100 watts at 295' but have a CP for 4000 watts at the same level. Perhaps they have built their CP...

The flatness of the terrain helps any FM station if it doesn't have a strong co-channel or 1st adjacent channel nearby. E.G. WPIO would be heard fine in Kissimmee were it not for 89.1 in Kissimmee. But all Orlando area coverage is due to statement one above.

WPIO is also relayed and simulcast on WKFA, also 89.3 on a tower at Tarrytown (Hwy 50 south of Webster).
It has ordered the Directional Antenna but is still operating with 100 watts at 300' and reaching East only as far as Mascotte. A little better to the West because the antenna is mounted on the West side of the tower.

BBN (Bible Broadcasting Network) owns the translator in Union Park (93.5). Until they can translate one of their own signals, or until they sell it, WPIO volunteered itself as a station for them to translate.

My parents live about 7 miles to the east of Tarrytown and WKFA at 89.3 does repeat the signal of the Melbourne station; also WKFA is very erractic as far as if and when they are on the air, they go from being off the air for several hours at a time, for no apparent reason, then may reappear several hours later; the signal can vary from weak to strong, so I suspect they are sometimes using the full 4,000 watts.

As I recall, it has a very good signal in Orlando. You can hear them up and down the I-4 corridor on a good car radio. At one time, some friends of mine had some creative programming on WPIO because they were going for the Orlando audience - but most everybody in the area now has concentrated their efforts on WPOZ and alumni from WPIO, WAPN, etc. all have shows, have had shows, or are DJs at WPOZ.

Until an "Irrelevant Radio" sat-feed gospel huxter translator appeared on 89.3 in Clearwater (near my home) a few months ago, WPIO was a regular allo the way over on this coast (not that the format was any better than what now blocks their signal).

here is something vary wierd. for the last 2 nights, i have DXed from altamonte springs on a factory radio of a 07 saturn vue, and an eton e10 shortwave radio. both times and both radios recieved 89.3 clear as day. this is really interesting. isn't that something? well just wanted to put that out there.

and just to let you know, wpio has come in in south west palm bay. now mind you, it wasn't too bad of a signal. so i think sometimes wpio's signal gets around.
