What Is The Foxx Doing Right?

Was looking at the Spring book for Charlotte and saw that WRFX actually had a decent showing for a change. What is the Foxx doing that has given them a nice spike in ratings? I thought I read somewhere that they were playing more hair band tunes, but everytime I try to tune in it is usually freebird... Kinda curious... CC1

I think they play it pretty safe musically. I'm not into Classic Album Rock and even I like most of what they play. It probably drives the Classic Album Rock fans nuts but it delivers the masses. Maybe this is where most of the Magic 96 listeners have gone?

The Fox has cherry picked music, added personality, strong promotional presence, and just good radio programming to the mix over the years. They continue to hold steady ratings and are finacially very successful. It appears they have insulated themselves from the local competition and from where I stand they will continue to be a cash cow for CC. The Ride was never a threat to them and as we move into the next phase of ratings I feel that PPM will show them even stronger. Dave at The Ride has had the opportunity to be a player in the Charlotte market but feel he is comfortable being that little station in Hickory. PPM is not going to be as kind to some stations as many think.

I enjoy WXRC... but everytime I tune in they are playing "People of the South Wind" by Kansas... (didn't mean to hijack your thread but noticed the Freebird comment...)

Doubt it. It was a very conservative oldies station.
