What is the future of RTV?

I would drop THIS-TV like a hot potato. It has reached it's zenth and is ready to go down.
Their only hope will be to go the Me-TV, Antenna route........but how many of these
subs can be supported?

Me-TV would really get a leg up if they converted their THIS-TV affiliates to ME. Otherwise
it may take Me-TV years to reach that level.......and now with Antenna competition, maybe
even longer.

Thanks! Benny Hill is on now. Earlier this Sunday morning we saw "Mustard Pancakes," "Critter Gitters" and "Curiosity Quest" -- all programs on the posted normal schedule for Saturdays.

E/I programming has to be carried. You can't simply not air it just because a new network is launching.

RTV has some really great shows. If they ever combined with Antenna TV or MeTV, I hope they would continue to air some of the Universal product that RTV uses. Suspense Theater (Kraft Mystery Theatre), Marcus Welby, Adam 12, Dragnet, Emergency!, Alfred Hitchcock Hour...they DO have some good stuff. The problem is that they never change anything.

Yeah I actually like RTV's shows the best. I like Emergency, Hulk, Magnum, Rockford, and a few others. On Antenna I plan to watch Too Close for Comfort and Threes Company, but that's about it. I have no interest in anything at all on This TV.
Are you not a Mr. Ed fan? Patty Duke? Bat Masterson? Pink Panther? Elvis? Frankie and Annette? I know they play mostly movies but the Beach movies are hilarious!

Personally, it would seem to me that RTV's days are numbered. There are only a handful of shows I actually watch on there, including Adam-12, Dragnet, Emergency, Marcus Welby and the black and white favs like Jack Benny and Alfred Hitchcock. It seems for the most part that have much of the "tired" part of the Universal library to use, not forgetting to mention repeating episodes.

I would love to pick up Antenna TV but the two affiliates in the state have such poor coverage ever since moving to digital (thanks, FCC) that I can't even get a hint of signal from them.

I've never seen "This" or "Me" feeds but I think that almost anybody has a better chance than RTV. I almost ruined my TV's speakers on more than one occasion thanks to RTV's own ineptitude in not being able to control their audio levels. If they have that much difficulty engineering and programming their feed maybe that should turn out the lights and hand the keys over to one of the others who know how to operate a channel.

I saw them this morning as well on WJW 8.2...I think he was noting that they are apparently on the Antenna TV schedule on Saturday mornings, but were airing Sunday instead.

Here in Charlotte, NC we were supposed to get RTV but it never happened for some reason. i was looking forward to it.

WHKY carries RTV as well as Tuff TV, but I'm not sure how well you can pick it up OTA since they're in Hickory. I know Time Warner doesn't carry WHKY's sub-channels.

i hope this tv leaves and antenna tv takes its place unless someone buys ch 62 here in boston because there for sale so i dont think they will be doing asnything new they might as well drop rtv all together!!

Thanks for the reply and info re E/I material. I was curious, as the promotional ads for it stated that Benny Hill would be on "all day" and instead, we saw the Saturday lineup on Sunday.

Back to RTV, and specifically WKOB here in NYC -- their schedule is 24/7, with actual classic shows late into the night, however each day at about 4:55 (and it might have been till 5:55 before Winter) the signal strength decreases from the average 60-65% down to zero and then the station just vanishes from all 4 channels. Anyone have any idea what's going on? Thanks in advance!

I tune in to WKOB almost every evening after 6pm and have never noticed the station vanish. I get about 80% signal all the time. I'm in NJ. Where are you viewing from? One thing I have noticed though, is that the picture has a lot of freezing and stuttering usually after about 7 or 8pm. It's not related to reception though since my signal remains at about 80%. I'm assuming it has something to do with WKOB's reception of the network feed.

I am in the Bronx, NYC. I wonder if they switch to a more directional signal at night, to avoid interference with a station using an adjacent RF, WBQM in Brooklyn.

There seem to be several new startup networks. RTV, from what I hear, is working on one or two of these. They seem to imply that a "NY" affiliate is near. I wonder if they refer to the test pattern channel and/or the duplicate of Daystar.

MORETV has to show E/I Programming.
In KC area we just got 3 digital Sub channels so far MORETV/THISTV and ACTION Weather Plus with 4.2 coming in Early March Antenna TV excluding PBS/ION'S and Metro Sports 2. I would say the Cool TV on KMCI because it's also where KU is where the station is but it's a low power station.

Here in NYC, WKOB has created a new sub channel, moved their color bars to 42.5, and put up a sign stating "TUFF TV" on ch 42.4. I only wish that they could increase their signal.

The Dot Two network (also known as .2) has also confirmed an affiliate here in NYC, but no word as to what station that will be, or when.

I also like the Me and Me2 lineups, and hope that they can find stations. I wish stations would also come up with more local content -- WABC used to repeat local and network news on a subchannel and also still carry Accuweather on another. I read that NBC's LA station has a program called "News Raw" -- a look into the newsroom each afternoon. NBC in NY has "Non Stop" which is a collection of various programs about NYC and you never seem to know what you will get.

The bigger problem with RTV on WKOB is that the shows are unwatchable after about 8pm every night. I have no idea what is causing the problem, but every night starting at about 8pm the picture starts freezing up and stuttering, making it virtually impossible to watch. It's not a WKOB signal issue because I can get the main channel just fine during this time and my signal strength is still strong. I'm assuming it's a problem with RTV's transmission to WKOB.

Is ".2" even still in the works anymore?

We followed it fairly closely when it started, since it's based in OMW territory (in Columbus), but I thought it retreated some ways back.

Even the sale of Guardian's full-power Columbus station (WSFJ/51 Newark OH) to TBN wasn't enough to get .2 jumpstarted.
