What is the history of this logo?

Alright, this may be a dumb question, but here goes....

What is the origin of the "Smooth Jazz" logo that tons of stations carrying the format use? It looks like a sun or something with waves....or I'm guessing that's what it's supposed to look like, and with "Smooth Jazz" in cursive. The image is usually in different colors. Quite a few stations use it.

Here is an example of what I am describing, from a station in Oklahoma City: http://smoothjazzoklahoma.com/

Thanks

Not a dumb question at all. If I remember correctly the original use of that logo was by WNUA in Chicago. I believe that it was created for them but by who I don't know. I do know that Broadcast Architecture was the organization that spread the logo through out the smooth jazz nation to any station that BA consulted as part of their package, especially with start ups.

Nice to see Jeff Oster on hour 3!! Great cd, some of it recorded here in Nashvegas. Had the opportunity to sail the lake with him and his horn, amazing.

Nock
