What is the latest with 105.3 NOW Radio?

This board got all hot and heavy of the possiblity of LIVE 105 flipping to NOW Radio. What is happening? Is it here or Dallas? Will CBS put an AMP or NOW radio in markets that once had a FREE FM? Then that would mean they will put one here in SF!

Nothing is happening. 105.3 FM in Dallas (formerly called Live 105.3) became The Fan - a sports-talk station in December. It's not likely they would flip formats again after 3 months.

And why would CBS flip KITS to Now or Amp or whatever with MOViN 99-7 moving to an urban CHR format?

CBS already has a NOW / AMP in SF... it's called Movin.

Good day.

hmmmm...yes.....perhaps there is no format change on the horizon, but a...yes that's right.......FREQUENCY SWAP.
With KMVQ.....MOVIN their format over to 105.3 and re-branding as 1053Now, and KITS taking their format over to 99.7 to improve their South Bay coverage. If nothing else it's a low-budget way to repackage and re-brand both stations' current offerings without the expense and effort of actually doing something new.

But I can't imagine that management there is as intellectually lazy as I am.

Movin 99.7 added All American Rejects "Gives You Hell" this week, and are playing most of the hits you'd hear on Amp Radio 97.1 and Now 92.3 NYC.

LIVE 105 is also spinning "Gives You Hell" by All American Rejects in heavy rotation.. I have also noticed that LIVE 105 has updated their "Gold" category and are playing Talking Heads, Morrissey, Billy Idol, Modern English, etc.. Alot of stuff that ALICE would normally play..

Also looks like Alice is becoming more Pop-Oriented on their playlist as well with Pink, Kelly Clarkson, etc..

Hmmm?

Soooo....they're going to move the more mainstream CHR format with the higher ratings over to the inferior 105.3 signal, so they can put the lower rated and more fringe alternative format on the strong 99.7 signal? And confuse listeners of both formats by playing hide the radio station? Then change the branding of the CHR format from MOViN to "Now" or "Amp" to confuse CHR listeners even more?

Since they couldn't call it "Live 105" anymore, would they re-brand the alternative format too? "Live 99-7?" To keep the rhyme, maybe they could take a cue from all that "Jack" and "Bob" branding, and call it "Kevin 99.7?"

None of that makes any sense at all.
