What is the meaning of "Trial of the Century"? in Media terms

Mark said:
Don't forget the newspaper era and "Leopold and Loeb" and "The Lindbergh Baby Kidnapping" were also called the trial of the century.
...and the Fatty Arbuckle trials (two hung juries and a final aquittal) before that...

Now as of 2012 George Zimmerman has over took Casey Anthony for "Most hated person in Florida." Also the Florida and the National Media will label the George Zimmerman trial as "trial of the century."
George Zimmerman was Bailed out yesterday that makes him even more hated than Casey Anthony and also fear in Florida that this trial will be worse than the "Rodney King Riots in LA" or the "Oscar Grant Riots" were in Oakland due to racial tension between the Hispanic and Black Community in Florida. I do remember in Local LA media the Rodney King riots not only was based on racial tension between blacks and whites but also blacks and Koreans on South Central LA.
Zimmerman, Casey Anthony, Terri Schiavo, Elian Gonzalez, Katherine Harris, OJ searching for 'the real killer' on golf courses...thousands, if not millions of people who insist on re-building in hurricane zones...every time something stupid happens in Florida, it gets saturation coverage in the national media.
[EDIT] Just get out of the news for one day.

[EDIT-disruption]

Flori-duh. I said it. It's true.

I agree with you 100%. The Judge that issued bail to Zimmerman was not thinking of the unintended consequences of this. The Judge should have considered the possibility of race riots in Florida because of Martin's death. Look at the Johannes Mehserle case in Oakland they had to keep the Bart Officer in jail until his sentence was over. Meherle did not get bail due to the Outrage and that the video of him shooting Grant at the Oakland Bart Station was posted on the web and of Race Riots in Oakland.

In the Orlando area these days, it's George Zimmermann (I bet Casey Anthony is grateful to George for FINALLY getting the media off her back)

Here in the Denver area, it might've been Eric Harris & Dylan Klebold had they not killed themselves during the Columbine massacre

Cheers & 73 :D

"I had never heard of Phil Spector, but they said he killed his girlfriend in Brentwood, CA."

She wasn't the only one he killed. Remember what he did to "Let It Be"? There's a grievous act of murder in the first degree...

[size=8pt]Hey, that rhymes!

I remember in the Casey Anthony case I wondered why was the National Media so obsessed with her. However, once George Zimmerman came into play I noticed all kinds of shady issues mentioned from Racial Profiling, to Gun Control, to State Corruption and regulations of Neighborhood Watch I thought one thing it will be worse than Rodney King and the Oscar grant saga's were once the bail and trial takes place.

Also The Genocide in Norway was crazy mainly because I always hear of Norway and Sweden having the top spot for best Human Rights laws in the world. I always thought of Norways having the lowest crime rate in the world.

I forgot the Supreme Court carrying the Health care case last month and Arizona Immigration Law that was mentioned by C-span and America Radio News Network as Trial of the century.
