What is the status of any licensed LPAMs?

After having been very active in Part 15 AM broadcasting for several years, my station was struck
by lightning during the middle of the night and severe winds caused damage to the line into the tuning box.

I was getting ready to do something in regards to putting the station back on the air on its original frequency
from before..1160 khz. But, then the LPAM possibilities came up and so I've done nothing as I only want to
buy one transmitter.

Are we any closer to LPAM, or should I just not worry about it and go ahead and put my Part 15 at 1160 back on the air? What would you do?

I've been streaming the same content as the Part 15 would be playing..but the royalty rates are hitting streaming stations very hard. As long as Live365 stays in business I'm probably okay..but it they close,
that will close me down too.

I apologize for the double post.

These are tough times for a lot of broadcasters. Even my former employer (a terrestrial
AM station) went silent two years after I left. I'd been with them 13 years in total.

I'm pulling the plug on my Live365 stream, too. I'm going to run in Basic mode until my contract runs out and concentrate on my Part-15. Dealing with the hassles of streaming has been a distraction, anyway.

Not for profits pay a couple hundred dollars a year for the rights to stream.

LPAM has not been assigned a docket number by the FCC. So it is years away at best.

Part 15 broadcasting is of little value unless you are an education institution. Otherwise
you are limited to 200-300 feet, that's less than 1 block.

If I were you, I would put the part 15 station back on the air and get everything ready for the hopeful day that LPAM is put on the books and stations are licensed and put on the air.
I have an LPAM group on yahoo. Most of the original petitioners for LPAM are there. Currently the focus is to start some lobbying in DC this year.

Thanks, midatlanticengineer! I have a feeling you know what you're talking about..especially since I had a chance to see your home page. I'm also joining the Yahoo group.

I've operated a legal Part 15 station in the past that actually did quite well.

In the meantime, I'm not pulling the plug on the stream until finances force it. But I don't see much likelihood of
much advertising-supported webcasts. The local full-service Part 15 AM received a few ad buys.
