What is the story with Qwkrock?

What prophecy? Troy & Jerry in the morning starting on Monday? That should be a high-quality, entertaining show.
Troy & Jerry? Is that local or syndicated something or other?

I AGREE WITH SPACKLER. I THINK TROY AND JERRY ARE EXCELLENT CHOICES AND WILL BE VERY ENTERTAINING. THEY ARE BOTH HARD WORKERS FOR THIS MARKET AND SHOULD SHINE NOW THAT THEY'RE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY.

Actually that was sarcasm. I don't enjoy Jerry Valeri, he annoys me. I can't listen to him. I think Troy is good.

For Steve, Jerry is the current afternoon guy, Troy is the midday guy.

If they numbers go anywhere but down I'll be very surprised. They'll save some bucks which will make ownership happy, but will probably get diminished returns.

Thanks for the clarification. I rarely listen to QWK Rock. Not my kinda music so for all I knew, they could be from a different planet totally. Not a huge Bob and Tom Fan either...but I'd think it would have more pull than a homegrown show. Wonder if the Bob and Tom Fans will sample Ace&Tj? Its kinda similar in some ways

"More pull?" What does that mean, Steve? And, I highly doubt Bob & Tom's audience is going to sample Ace & TJ. The shows are vastly different, other than they are mostly talk. Two completly different demos!!

I know Spakler is not a fan of Jerry, but I am (Troy, too). These guys have been through TWO frequency changes, numerous managment changes and much more (let's just leave it at that...lol), yet they keep going in and doing a great job...why? Because they LOVE radio and the y LOVE QWK Rock and their listeners know it. Kick @ss guys, I'm pulling for you!

Troy and Jerry will do fine. They live the demo and have the talent and skill.
Will Not-Forever have the patience to let them grow? That is the only question.
Alas, experience teaches otherwise. Good luck to them both.

I personally think that QWK will lose a few shares in the morning, simple as that no Bob and Tom, people who listened for just Bob and Tom won't listen. Will it be a drastic drop probably not...as for how bad will Troy and Jerry be...like Glen said they have been there through countless changes and if they were not pulling numbers then I have a feeling they would be out the door. So I say lets give them a chance. I have discovered in the past that sometimes a person is better when they are playing off of another person. If the chemistry is right the show could be damn good, you never know until you give it a chance.

As for Sampling Ace and TJ maybe, maybe not! Again Glen is right the shows go after 2 totally different demos...I would venture to say we might pick up a couple of the women listeners, but I doubt we will see any of the male demo. Then again I could be thinking wishfully.

Glen hit up my email [email protected], I got a question for you and don't want to ask you here...no need for everybody to read it

How come when you go in to modify, it copies to a new post now??

The biggest risk associated with ditching Bob & Tom is that (most of) the B&T audience isn't listening to them because they're part of Quickrock; they're listening specifically to Bob & Tom. Those listeners are humor fans, and not necessarily music fans (of any particular type of music). So when B&T disappear, so will the audience. Troy & Jerry will be starting at zero or damn close to it. Tough row to hoe.

With all due respect to T&J, they aren't in the same league as B&T; they're just a couple of decent jocks in one of America's smallest markets expected to replace one of the nation's funniest morning acts.

It would be nice if Forever might understand the kind of impossible task they've given these guys, and allow them to grow their audience over the next 4 or 5 years. Anybody think that's likely to happen?

But if you are not selling the morning show that is seperated from your station, why keep it? This way here you eliminate the overhead and you have a product that is more connected to your station.

I am sure voicetracking is going to fill a shift as another full-timer won't be added to the staff...probably Troy or Jerry tracking until noon and Scotty on from noon - 7 (this is based on my experience with the company, not inside knowledge).

They will have time to grow their show as the station will be running as thin as the company wants at that point.

I haven't heard it either but I did hear 3rd party that they were telling jokes and sitting around laughing at each other...so in all honesty it is just like Bob and Tom only local now.

No I'm just kidding mornings are a tough gig! I agree give em a few more days yet.
