What is up with John and Ken's erratic vacation schedule?

Usually listeners can expect their hosts to take off vacation time around the summer and other holidays. Handel usually takes off two weeks straight as do other hosts except J&K. They always have a weird vacation schedule and it seems even crazier this year.

About a month ago when the Court ruled on Prop 8, John worked solo while Ken was away for about 4 days. Then on that Friday both were gone. They both returned on Monday and worked till Wednesday and then both were gone the remainder of the week. The following week Ken was solo for about 3 days and then both were gone for the remainder of the week.

Then about two weeks ago both come back and worked the entire week. Now this week both are gone again.

If you are going to take vacations then why can't they take straight two or three week vacations like all other hosts do, but this few days here and few days there is nutty. Listening to idiots like Kennedy, or Bryan Suits or that brain dead Conway in that time slot not even a possibility. I tune elsewhere as soon as I hear someone else.

Even Larry Elder would be palatable if he wasn't constantly swallowing his saliva every three sentences. I don't know what problem he has but he should be seeking some help. It's grating to the ears to hear him pause to swallow his saliva so often.
 
It's August. The traditional month for radio talent to take their vacation time.

I think there used to be something weird with the diaries where 1-2 of the weeks in August weren't reported, so that started the tradition. It may have changed under PPM, but the inertia is still there. Even in public media, I've noticed more radio guys taking off time this month (including me).
 
WOR has been filling John & Ken's slot with a loudmouth numbskull by the name of Chris Merrill. You think Suits and Conway are unlistenable? Last night they ran a medical infomercial, which was actually an improvement.
 
Filling in for John and Ken this week, Conway has been teamed with former KTTV weatherman Mark Thompson. I've been having fun reading other message boards and seeing comments from people who think they've been listening to the former KLOS morning man. :D

The whole radio industry is suffering. Who would be hiring them? Larry Elder has been trying to find another gig for almost a decade now. He's interviewed with every TV news outlet and been rejected.
 
There was only one thing about Larry Elder that I didn't like: his pompous proclamation "You've just heard The Word!", accompanied by the sound of a gavel being pounded.

Oh God that's nothing. I guess you can't handle a second of Limbaugh's pomposity.
