What is up with KPRC?

They have got some very out there promos. Not sure what I think of them yet. I guess they are re-vamping to help the sagging ratings. They now have Michael Berry 9-11am. They are promoting him as Live & local and in the know. In case you did not know he is a city council member also. I enjoy talk radio but this sounds hip like a Classic Rock sound to the promos. What do you think?<P ID="signature">______________

I am just happy that our elected officals have nothing better to do and to host a talk show. I mean, we dont have any problems with illegals or anything else here in the city.

I am so glad that Pat has to spend even more time on the air and do a 6 hour show on Wed so Mr. Councilmember "shows up" to the council meetings.

KPRC certainly has lost a listner and Mr. Berry has lost a vote at the next election.

Agreed.

Too much potential conflict with city business and public airwaves. Berry could easily shoot himself in the foot by mouthing off on something and forever ruin his public service aspirations.

Plus it is very tricky for him to promote/endorse a specific company (as all talking heads do) when he is supposed to be for "all of the people" in the community.

Maybe KPRC is on to something. I never heard about this until you all started talking about it just now. It's peaked my curiousity. Listening to a politician shoot his own feet off? Sounds like good entertainment to me!

Like Howard Dean when they let that rabid-dog out of his kennel. ;-)

C'mon, now. Are/were you really a listener to KPRC to begin with? And are you going to stop listening to The Box which lets Ada Edwards on their station to host a talk show.

Don't ALL our council members have other jobs or extensive volunteer roles?

And when I interviewed Berry in 2003or4, he talked about the fact that he defers his salary. Does he still? It isn't like KPRC isn't known to be biased. I just don't see the problem here. This is how he choses to spend these 8 hours a week. I think the real question is - is the show good?

Just some facts from the CITY COUNCIL WEBSITE. I'll let you defend these conflicts of interest -
