WHAT IS WITH CBC RADIO 2?

I'm so surprised to see there is no board talk about all of the changes in programming happening at CBC radio 2.

One of my all time favorite shows, Northern Lights, with Andrea Ratuski, apparently has been axed in favor of a show with Danielle Charbonneau who has to be one of the most irritating radio hosts on CBC. I'm sure that she sounds great in French, but her speaking English is SOOOOO grating.

The CBC is trying to skew younger, I believe.
All I can do is wish them all the best.

This affects Radio Two AND Radio One

From this week's Northeast Radio Watch:

In CANADA, the CBC is about to make another round of programming changes on its radio services, especially at Radio Two, where an aging audience is prompting concerns about the network's future. So beginning in March, and continuing over the next year, the mostly classical programming on Radio Two will be joined by an increasing amount of jazz and pop, with a strongly Canadian flavo(u)r to it. Radio One, meanwhile, will lose most of its music programming, and its afternoon "Freestyle" pop culture show will be replaced by a new Toronto-based arts show hosted by Jian Ghomeshi.

In short, Radio One will become something similar to BBC Radio 4 while Radio Two takes on more of an NPR feel.

Coincidentally this comes as Radio One puts more of its signals on FM.
