What is wkve?

What is WKVE?

It's Bob Stevens' pet project, and essentially his one-man show. All the music came from his personal collection as far as I know.

It happens to be a nice little change of pace from DVE. Probably could be more than that, but Bob creates VERY specific business models for his stations and it makes him profitable in an era when when the vast majority of small operators are not.

A radio station? ;)

Sorry, had too.

KVE is a station broadcasting south of Pittsburgh but it's format is Classic Rock. No connection to WDVE whatsoever.

Everything else Parttimer nailed.

It is a big bowl of awesome is what it is. :)

If you know there's a Steely Dan outside of Do It Again, an Allman Brothers outside of Midnight Rider, and that Eric Clapton and Fleetwood Mac did some work in the 80s that makes their 70s output look sick, this is the station for you.

The closer you get to Pittsburgh proper, the weaker the signal gets....but it comes in great outside of the metro area.

For what it is worth, it is licensed to Mt. Pleasant (south of Greensburg) with a tower down in that area. It puts out a good signal in much of Westmoreland County and can be scanned in the McKeesport area.

Well I can listen somewhat up north in clarion county. I like the station better than dve! But I wish it was like 937krock tho or like quickrock in state college.

I wouldn't classify them as classic rock. I hear a ton of new music. But to hear Kid Charlemagne, or Lorelei, with that processing...pretty cool.

KVE is a cool station that would earn a button on my radio( next to my WJPA & 1063 The River pre sets)....I live in Steubenville, the signal is very weak here!

You know why because Pittsburgh doesn't have a rock station that's why! Dve is not a rock station but mostly plays classic rock than newer rock? Quickrock 103.1 would be a cool name? :-{)

DVE IS A ROCK STATION

It's just like Philly's MMR. I've been streaming DVE for a week straight. It's an Active Rock. It's playlist is NEW music. It plays classic rock too.

KVE is Classic Rock, but it also has some (much much less) new titles.

Understand?

I thought dve played mostly classic rock unless they changed?

I would say 70% (7 songs out of 10) of what they play is classic rock.

A mixed rock station I'd like to have 50% split of new and old! Not 70% old and 30% new? What about rocky99 and 103.1kve?

I'd like to congratulate WKVE on its second anniversary. I'd also like to congratulate WKVE on getting
its website up and running, designed by Jason Togyer (Jay Thurber of WRCT fame) under Bob Stevens'
direction.

Disclaimer: WKVE is co-owned and colocated with our other stations (94.1/620 KHB and 97.5/770 KFB)
but I have no involvement with it.

Any Idea when 94.1 will be Broadcasting from the Browns hill Road Tower? I live in Northwest Allegheny County [where Beaver Butler and Allegheny meet]. 97.5 Comes in strong. I am wondering if 94.1 can over come 94.5 in my Area!
