WHAT IS WRONG WITH WCAP'S TRANSMITTER?

For at least the fourth time in the last 4-6 weeks, WCAP was off the air for an extended period of time. The latest failure was last night. The Spinners game, which was taking place in Fishkill, NY, was delayed by rain, so they went with their "The Beatles & Before" oldies programming. At perhaps 7:50p or so, they transmitter suddenly went down. They came on a little over an hour later, and stayed with the music for about 20 minutes before they went to the game, which had started in the meantime. Everyone knows about the ownership problems there, but why these constant transmitter failures? Anybody know?

That was commonplace when I was employed there and it seemed to happen frequently in the summertime .. even the back-up was unreliable. The rack in the studio was jimmy rigged and I remember engineers just scratching their heads (lol) One time I told the engineer that the board in one of the two studios (circa 197???) was broadcasting in only one channel .. he opened up the board and put it back down and said "I don't even want to open up this can of worms, cuz if I did, I don't know if I could get it running again"
