What is WVTF going to do with their Fredericksburg station???

I have been wondering about this since Va Tech purchased unbuilt WHMM-FM in May. What will become of the 88.3/Spotsylvania station? It appears to be on the same tower as WVBX and should give Fredericksburg almost city-grade coverage...something lacking in this neck of the woods since WETA-FM went all-classical. Actually, both WAMU and WCVE-FM have iffy coverage in the area.

Id imagine given the fact that VT has been adding college stations and translators left and right to its Radio IQ network, that this will be the next addition.

Sign on would be at least around new years as there has been no signal testing or noticeable construction work on the WVBX tower. I still get the Ocean City repeater of WAMU most days here on 88.3.

I concur, probably Radio IQ from WVTW. (Which has a slightly different schedule than the rest of the network.)

88.3 Fredericksburg is WQIQ

The Feds have approved the sale of 88.3/Spotsylvania to the Virginia Tech Foundation. Format will indeed be Radio IQ programming from Charlottesville. New calls are WQIQ. No idea on the sign on date, but given the fact that the new tower (I didnt think there would be a new tower...) has been built and antenna installed, it cant be too far off.
