What is WYSP thinking

First we are bombarded with Eagles talk, now we have to sit through 3 hours of idiotic bits, plus, the music is bland during those hours. I was expecting to hear rock music after those 3 hours of jabber, what do I get, the relief program, which featured mostly urban influenced music and chatter. I guess YSP does not want to be Philly's number ONE rock station any longer. They are a big disappointment and I think MMR will overtake them soon. Its entirely their fault, what are they thinking in the big office.

Rich, may I call you Rich? Rich, let's go back to 2002...afternoon drive to be exact...and a 21 share. WYSP was a male dominated dynasty. Stern, Don and Mike, O&A. I think they were still calling themselves "The Rock Station" when all primes were talk.

That's why. Think about where the men are...they all gravitate to talk. Now, what if the 18-34 male actually catches on to the Kidd Chris show? I would think that they were right...I guess time will tell.

Well then the hierarchy at Infinity need to make up their minds, they can't be a hot talker and a rock station too. Talk doesn't rock. YSP can't be the number 1 rock station if it wants to talk too.

Attention Kmart shoppers we have a blue light special on the story of Philadelphia. Hmmm they talk Eagles, lets see. Its football season in Philly on the home of the Eagles. I dont know if you have been out in the past oh 20 years but this is a football town. Eagles get ratings. Ratings equal $$$$$$$$$$$$$ Football works in there demos The team was in the Super Bowl last year. People live and die with this team. If they were talking about the Phillies you have a point.

Actually, they can be any darned thing they want to if the listeners keep tuning in. So long as there are more people who like the mixture of rock and sports/talk than those who tune out, there's no compelling reason to change.

Actually they can be anything they want to. everything is self proclaimed. Ever hear of the smooth jazz station? They play Michael Bolton and Madonna. Not very Jazzy if you ask me. How about the 3 urban stations that play "the most hip hop and r&b"? How can all 3 of them play the most? Ever hear of Phillys #1 hit music station? thats not too hard of a feat when you're Phillys only hit music satation. (the others being out of Wilmington, Trenton, etc.) Heres one more, although out of market. The station that calls themselves the beat of New York. Yet they play some of the slowest, sappiest ballads.

I need to add one more little itty-bitty point:

How many stations in the market have some sort of "Birds" promo going on? Two things to take note of; one, they ain't allowed to say "Iggles", I'm sorry, "Eagles", and two - THEY ALL WANT TO BE AFFILIATED WITH A WINNER!

Let's see...there is the WMMR evening show with what was to be John Ritchie...there is that long running show on WXTU...Q102 was at TO's house and I am sure they have tickets to give-away...Wired...Power 99...I can keep going.

But none of them have the legal right to say "Eagles"...now, what FM talker/rocker/sucker can? HMMMMMmmmmMMMmmmmMMmMmmm.

Will you people please stop crying. An Eagles game lasts about 3 or 4 hours. Turn the radio to a different station if you don't like it, or put in a CD. Who's listening to the radio on a Sunday afternoon during football season anyway. Also, if any of you would open your eyes and look around the NFL, 90% of the teams are on FM, and most of those stations are rock stations. So my question is. Why should ysp have to suffer for a few idiots that don't know how to turn a radio dial for 3 hours every Sunday

Re: What is WYSP thinking..hot talk??

I agree with Jason. If you can't plug in a CD or spin the dial for a few hours, that's pathetic. Most NFL teams have FM rockers as their flagships.

I did not know it was that important for the football fan to hear, cursing, yelling, crunching, slamming and cheering in full dimensional stereo. This I cannot understand.

Most NFL teams are on FM stations. It is a huge money maker. THen I guess you dont understand football and its fans. They want that sound

So my question is. Why should ysp have to> suffer for a few idiots that don't know how to turn a radio> dial for 3 hours every Sunday> Relax, take a xanax and listen closely, I DO NOT mind 3 or 4 hours of game talk and then the play by play, BUT after the game, don't bring the Eagles up every 5 minutes, between sets every day of the week, let it lie. How can I turn the dial for 3 hours like you stated, then turn it back only to hear about the Eagles every other minute. Bottom line is, if they cut the music for the game OK, but don't thrive on it on the full broadcast day Monday thru Saturday.

That would explain a lot Rich. You don't understand men and what appeals to them. Thus you would not understand YSP's thinking as to why they would hire Kidd Chris, have talk and have football. I think you solved your own problem.

It's just like being at the game.

odd, most reference Eagles, 92.5 has "Eagles Prime Time Live", and even has it right on their website. Furthermore, Eagles is not a trademarkable word, "Philadelphia Eagles" is but Eagles is not as it is common noun to name a bird, space landers and other various college teams, amongst others. Everyone has the legal right to say and promote "Eagles" albeit Philadelphia or Boston College, as long as they dont say "Philadelphia Eagles" in reference to a promotion. Now "Super Bowl" is trademarked, thus you get all the "Big Game" promotions and commercials in January
