My top Bad Hip Hop Stations.
1)107.5 Denver CO.
2)Wired Philly.
3)Jamming 107 New London CT .

Normally I agree with Rapking, but KQKS is a very succesful station. Wired is a good Dance friendly rhythmic. I havent listened to Jammin 107, but perhaps I should.
Anyway, here is my list of bad stations.
Hot 104 St Louis
Hot 96 WHHH Indianapolis, used to be cool before Radio One bought them in 2001.

I agree with Rap King, Radio One usually sucks for Hip Hop stations, but in Atlanta and Washington DC they kick butt... The Baltimore Urbans are pretty good too.
Speaken of Atlanta, I usually like the Rhythmic stations better than Urbans, but in Atlanta, V-103 totally kicks 95.5 The Beats Butt, with a better signal, fresher playlist, plus you can tell that the station is a Heritage and professional sounding. I think they should just flip The Beat to Dance or something, How can they compete against V-103, 107.9 Jamz, Q-100, and to a point Star 94??? Im not saying The Beat is a bad station, it just needs to get rid of all the Crunk Gold and Recurrents, and re introduce some Dance and POP, like they sounded back in like 99-2000. Maybe add some live talent and good Live to Air mixshows.

Most of the good heritage stations do play some House music, mainly in Mixshows. B-96 Chicago plays some House, so does Power 96 in Miami, Hit fm El Paso, Wired 96.5. House music is still very much a part of the Urban-Rhythmic format, its just ignored by most U.S station's. If you dont think Urbans can play house music, you should check out YFM in South Africa... 1. K97.5 Raleigh NC....Another bad product of Radio-One.
2. Soul 92 Rocky Mount....Bad Imaging, and horrible audio.
3. Power 95.5 Rocky Mount....One week they are a Hip-Hop station the next week they are Urban AC.
4. 103 Jamz Norfolk VA....Was one of the best sounding Hip-Hop stations in the country 10 years ago.

To me, when it comes to music on 92.3, they are trying to be a K104 imitator because everytime I hear a new song on K104 (Dallas) the next day, they starting to play it and then claim nobody else has it yet.
I think Hot 93.3 do not play enough new Hip-Hop. There are a lot of Hip-Hop music out there that other stations play, but they seem to be reluctant to play it unless its a major hit. I believe that Austin is missing out on a lot of this because there is another Hip-Hop station but it is not heard throughout some parts of the city due to a small signal.

This appears to be something we agree on.
I said about a month ago that I'd bet a year or so before they dump Jammin' completely, and flip it to some kind of AC or (God forbid) Easy Listening format. Having had to listen to it for three hours at work a couple of days ago I'll give it until New Year's 2009.
??? I dunno, maybe even that bet could be a little too liberal? ???
Well, I guess I shouldn't complain too much. At least one good thing came out of this--we are finally rid of Movin'. (Good riddance.) I don't personally know of many people who will miss that one too much.

98.5 The Beat in San Antonio. They still play Lil John crap, and that was done and over with two years ago. Very limited in new stuff. Morning show is horrible. Plus they play crap like Pussycat Dolls and Gwen Stefani Hollaback Girl. Power 106.7 is a much better hip hop station. At least they have a throwback lunch hour and spin some 90s stuff THAT ISN"T JUST 2PAC, BIGGIE AND P-DIDDY!
