What is your favorite morning news program?

Good Morning America on ABC, Today on NBC, or CBS's Early Show?

My pick is Good Morning America.
______________

If any of these were news shows and not "OMG IT'S TEH RUNAWAY BRIDE!" maybe I'd like at least one of them.

During school, I was only able to watch from about 7:25 to 7:40, so I'd get to catch the local weather and then the latest non-news crap from the three. I think someone should really produce a REAL morning news program.

If I had to pick, GMA.

(none of the above)

Too much fluff, too much Katie, too much OPINION disguised as news on those 3. I've had my Michael Jackson BS the night before. I don't need more.

I usually watch C-SPAN.

They do talk about a lot of "fluff". I pick GMA though.
______________

My vote is for GMA as well, hands-down. Natural chemistry (and upping Robin Roberts to co-anchor only strengthened the team), a relatively good balance of news and fluff (all morning shows are shills for the network, so I take that into consideration), a good pace to the stories and a strong bench of back-ups and reporters.

Fox & Friends on Fox News Channel (weekdays & weekends)

None.
They are all bad.
If I am up its BBC World News, then catch the local news update ahead of the bottom of the hour on one of the local stations.

Now someone would be on to something if they actualy had a morning newscast instead of a goofy infotainment show.
______________

I love Fox & Friends during the week, they always seem so happy & cheerful.. I like the fact that I can wake up, get my breakfast & have a smile on my face when I walk out the door.. They put me in a good mood for the rest of the day.. :)

Well since I live on the west coast[Seattle], its CNN's "American Morning" and ABC's "GMA"(On KOMO-4). But I also get a kick out of seeing "The Daily Buzz" on UPN11/KSTW.

I watch Seattle Live on KONG 6/16 in Seattle.

At the risk of being shot, I have to say The Today Show. Maybe because I've just always watched it, but it just seems to be "home" for me. And yes, I could do without some of Katie, though I think she's gotten a bit better since the whole ratings thing was exposed.

What can I say? I resist change :)

If I gotta choose between the three, GMA hands down. They have the best mix of fun and info on the networks. But the best of all is Fox and Friends.

The best of all time was the morning show on FX in the late 90's with Tom Bergeron (I can't remember the name though). Hilarious show until it moved to the Fox network and got carved up and murdered. It was great unless there was some tragedy somewhere that demanded a more serious approach.

I'm gonna have to follow a different beat here and say The Daily Buzz, even though it's syndicated. Second favorite is Q-13 Morning News(Seatle's FOX affilliate).
______________

Re:WEST COAST VIEWERS.

West Coast viewers, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Deigo, Sacramento, Las Vegas, Fresno, Reno tends to watch their Local FOX or Independents affiliates in the morning than the big three. For me, I tend to watch Good day Oregon instead of GMA, TODAY, or The Early Show. In Toronto, usally Breakfast Television on Citytv, or Global Ontario.

That was "Breakfast Time" and I agree, it was great!!!

If you never saw it, it's really difficult to describe.

Two of my favorite moments were a live broadcast from the top of the George Washington Bridge in NYC and once seeing the guy who did "Bob" the puppet sliding across the floor to get in back of a couch to get into position with "Bob"!!!
______________

I tend to agree with that, and I live in Los Angeles. I watch Good Day L.A. on KTTV/Fox, even though I don't think much of Jillian Barberie. As far as the network shows, I would watch Good Morning America, but I rarely watch it nowadays compared to GDLA. I've always liked GMA going back to the Joan Lunden-David Hartman days. I've never got into the Today Show, and CBS' morning news programs have been a joke for almost as long as I've been alive (I'm 25).
Edited by ShawnHill on 06/20/05 11:22 PM.

I'm in Phoenix and I like the Today show. I notice that when there is breaking news, Matt and Katie will say, "Good Morning, it's 7am in the West!" I guess that they tape a new intro, possibly an updated news segment, and first interview.

Actually, in the early to mid-80's, the CBS Morning News briefly overtook the Today show for the #2 position. It was a "pretty" good show at that time. I believe it was hosted by Bill Kurtis and Diane Sawyer at the time.
