Southeast of Watertown, NY

CKWS 104.3 Kingston, ON 8kw
WFRG 104.3 Utica, NY 100kw

Yup, just ran into that mix yesterday.

Also, Watertown's Magic 103 WTOJ, comes in pretty strong for me, being a semi-local. However CFMZ's (Classical 96) Cobourg signal, does come knocking from time to time...wish that one had a clear signal here (although I'm happy enough with Watertown's Classical FM repeater 90.9 WJNY).

Another one I'd forgotten to mention, from just a little ways to the southwest: the move of CJTN Trenton/Quinte West from 1270 to 107.1 a few years back created an ugly co-channel scenario here with CILQ Toronto. With a sufficiently directional antenna, I can usually still pick out one or the other, and of course the Canadian regulators don't care if they interfere with each other on US soil. CHUC Cobourg's move from 1450 to 107.9 created some co-channel issues here with WWHT in Syracuse, but they're at about a 100-degree angle to each other from here, so quite easy to separate with the rooftop antenna.

Ya, Scott, I'm quite surprised with CJTN being parked on the Q107 frequency. Q107 would've easily made it into Trenton, before the CJTN move. I have gotten Q107, here in the Brockville ON area, but there is the co-channel issue now.

Northern and Central, even Southern, Broward County, FL.
WDNA Miami is clear on 88.9 all day, but each and every evening, WQCS Fort Pierce wipes them out.

Also, a whole bunch of Christian translators get hammered by the class C's from Southwest Florida every night.

Co-Channels in Seattle

88.1 Everett Christian xlator and KPLU xlator
88.9 KMIH Mercer Island, WA and CSN xlator
89.1 Radio U and CSN fighting it out
89.9 KASB Bellevue and KGRG Auburn
94.5 SOMETIMES KMIH xlator and CFBT Vancouver

Co-channels in Yakima

92.1 KXEZ, K221FM, and KTFW.
In Dallas K221 and KXEZ duke it out. 'XEZ used to come in pretty good.
get to Carrolton and all 3 fight. In these areas it make all the stations
unlistenable in a car.

96.7 WBAP-FM Bad during Tropo
104.1 KTDK Bad During Tropo
95.9 K240DS and KFWR Get into Dallas and these two fight it out.

I live in Carrollton close to Keller Springs and Josey and here are a few more I can add to that

on 92.1 KFWR, KXEZ and K221FM
on 97.5 KLAK and K248BC
on 102.5 there is KMAD and K273FM

I was in the Gouverneur, NY area the other day and found WLLG and WSNN both give interfering on 99.3. For those unfamiliar you have WSNN which is around 30-40 miles NW at 3kw, and you have WLLG which is around 35-40 miles south at 1kw, but gives off quite a bit of power to the north since it is a translator to the main station which is south of it.

I guess this is good for WLKF which just went country in the area earlier this year. Two potential country competitors which would both have a halfway decent signal there if they weren't on the same frequency are basically jamming each other

Here in the Lake Geneva, WI area, I have lots of troublesome frequencies.

89.1
WBSD Burlington, WI (11 miles)
WNIE Freeport, IL (61 Miles)

91.1
WGSL Loves Park, IL (34 miles)
WGTD Kenosha, WI (31 miles)

91.7
WSUW Whitewater, WI (23 miles)
WZKL Woodstock, IL (21 miles)...This pest just came on this summer

98.3
WJMR Menominee Falls, WI (40 miles)
WRLR-LP Round Lake Beach, IL (23 miles)

99.9
WCPQ Park Forest, IL (95 miles)
WFEL-LP Antioch, IL (19 miles)
WJVL Janesville, WI (38 miles)

101.5
WIBA-FM Madison, WI (64 miles)
WLGS-LP Lake Villa, IL (21 miles

I'll admit that being out here in the stix, as it were, most of these stations are by no means locals, but I do have to fight to hear one.

This becomes a real pain when listening (or trying to) to Packers games at night when WTMJ's (AM 620) signal from Milwaukee is non-existent in this area. WJVL & WIBA-FM also carry these games.

99.5: W258AU Huntsville / WZRR Birmingham
101.7: WMXN Stevenson AL / WKOM Columbia TN/WBEI Tuscaloosa AL
102.9 WBUZ Nashville / W275AA Huntsville
103.5 WHWT Huntsville / WLAY-FM Shoals
105.5 WYTM Fayetteville TN /WVNA-FM Shoals
106.5 W293AHHuntsville / WSKZ Chattanooga

out of all these 99.5 and 102.9 would be the worst

103.7 on Route 9 in Henniker, NH west of Concord:
WKNE is closer (30 miles away), a class B NW of Keene, but WPKQ (80 miles) is off of Mt. Washington. To the east, WKNE had been audible in the Lakes and Capital regions in central New Hampshire before the Mt. Washington signal came along. The interference is severe for a ten mile stretch on Route 9 just off I-89, but neither station seems to care since it's outside their local markets... but not by much in WKNE's case.

Here in Vermilion, OH this would be between WSWR 'My 100.1' and WNIR 'The Talk of Akron'. These 2 stations are always duking it out for radio supremacy while driving around town.

My worst interference issue is 103.7 KRZR adding HD in May 2007. Before HD was added, I could listen to 103.9 The Hawk (Classic Rock) from Fresno CA real good from my good car stereo. The HD signal completely blankets the 103.9 signal and it cannot be heard anymore. THANKS KRZR!!!

Most common ones in Fresno

104.1-KFRR Fresno/KHKK Modesto, when the tule fog rolls in the out of town station KHKK in some areas of N/W Fresno over takes KFRR, actually during this condition they battle it out From Fresno To Merced, In normal conditions they still fight it out in Merced County and all mountain locations in Fresno/ Madera/Mariposa/ and Merced Counties.

103.3-KATM Modesto/KPZO Visalia
93.3 -KZOZ San Luis Obispo/KNTO Chowchilla
92.5- KBRE Merced/KKAL Paso Robles
106.3- KVPW Kingsburg/KGAM Merced
coming soon 94.5-KCGC Coarsegold a new station still in test mode over takes KGEN Tulare.

When in Sacramento, I used to be able to listen to 105.7 KOZZ from Reno, there is a low powered translator operating at the 105.7 frequency for Star 94.3 out Grass Valley with only 250 watts and it blocking my 105.7 KOZZ that I picked up clear from Sac.

WXRC 95.7 Hickory, NC and WHPE 95.5 High Point, NC. Both 100,000 watts. Transmitters are about 65 miles from each other. Driving on I-85 between Greensboro and Charlotte is quite a fight between the two.

I have earlier posted about the co-channel stuff..but the real problem is the IBOC sideband interference like what Daniel Boone pointed out...and the FCC allowed this to be on the airwaves. Examples: Baltimore's 106.5 and DC's 106.7, Baltimore's 105.7 and DC's 105.9, all in HD.

In the Raleigh/Durham, NC market, I always enjoyed listening to Robbins, NC-licensed standards station WLHC, a class A at 103.1 that came in pretty decent here even though were out of their city grade coverage. Late last year, the company signed on a new 103.1 FM, WLQC, another class A, in Sharpsburg, NC. The two run the same music, but not a simulcast, and tear each other up here.

My favorite country station, Danville, Virginia's 100 kW C1 WAKG 103.3, often gets heavy interference from Newport, NC-licensed WMGV (also a 100kW C1, I think). WAKG still does pretty phenomenal here (at least in Durham) considering their Grade B contour ends just northwest of town.

107.9 FM is interesting here as well--100kW WNCT (think they may be a full C) in Greenville, NC dukes it out with WRTP-FM translator W300AR/Durham and Raleigh's WVDJ-LP. Occasionally, Charlotte's WLNK is added to the mix.
