Monmouth/Ocean really needs a station that targets the male population. Take away the rimshots, the classic rockers, WRAT and G Rock Radio (which really doesn't target the male demographic per se), and look at the ratings books - there's a lot of men that aren't listening to the radio. Why? A couple of big format holes, that's why.

This market could use both an Urban station and a Modern Rock station. NYC and Philly's Urban stations don't reach the market too well, and neither does WGBZ/WZBZ in AC / Cape May. This type of station may not get strong ad revenue right out of the gate, but I think it would after its ratings roll in. And on the Modern Rock front - I like G Rock Radio and listen to it a good amount, but some people I've spoken with find their take on Alternative a bit too safe and mellow for their tastes, and at times I find myself having to tune out for the same reason. A station that plays more of a broad spectrum of Modern Rock is definitely needed here, with no station playing the System Of A Downs and the Mudvaynes that covers the entire market.

Atlantic City / Cape May: Seems to me like pretty much all the bases are covered here. Whether you're looking for AM or FM Talk, Urban, Smooth Jazz or Modern Rock, you can find it here. I do think two Hot ACs (WAYV, WSJO) are a bit excessive, but if they both rate and bill well, more power to them. It seemed to me like WGBZ/WZBZ didn't do all that bad in its CHR/Rhythmic incarnation, so I feel that maybe this format should be considered once again in this market - yes, there's WSJQ (Q 107), but that doesn't really reach the northern part of the market. Maybe one of the myriad Adult Contemporary stations in the market should contemplate a move if they languish in the ratings.
